Mr. Nielsen just wrapped Newton’s Laws of Motion.
To celebrate the occasion, we put theory to the test with a small act of engineering and a bit of mischief: the Pringle Protector. The task was simple in the way desert survival is simple. Build a contraption that could save a lone Pringles chip from the blunt authority of gravity—represented by a falling can of soda dropped from one meter above. The tools were humble: two sheets of paper, one meter of masking tape, and whatever stubborn ingenuity the students could muster.
Gravity did its best to smash those fragile little potatoes into dust. But in 26 cases, human cleverness held the line.
