The River Road Volunteer Fire Department proudly recognizes June as PTSD Awareness Month and stands in support of all individuals and families affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
PTSD can affect anyone. It may impact military veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, 911 dispatchers, healthcare workers, survivors of accidents, abuse, violence, natural disasters, and countless others who have experienced traumatic events.
Many people carry invisible scars that others may never see. PTSD is not a sign of weakness—it is a normal response to abnormal and often life-changing experiences. Recovery is possible, and no one should feel ashamed to seek help.
This month, we encourage everyone to:
💙 Learn about PTSD and its effects
💙 Check in on friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors
💙 Support those who may be struggling
💙 Promote mental health awareness and available resources
💙 Help break the stigma surrounding mental health challenges
To anyone living with PTSD: You are not alone. Your story matters. Your life matters. There is hope, there is help, and there are people who care.
Together, we can build stronger communities through understanding, compassion, and support.
