We were incredibly honored to welcome Senator Jim Justice (and Babydog, of course) to the Northside Fire Station today for a press conference about Senate Bill 4310, the “No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act.” We'd like to thank Senator Justice, not only for his excellence in leadership, but also for championing this bill. We wholeheartedly appreciate the steadfast support of initiatives that directly benefit hardworking West Virginians. It was a pleasure to have you in Morgantown, Senator Justice! 🤝

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of WVU Engineering students to Northside Fire Station for a hands-on smoke demonstration.

Using a transparent model house they designed and built, the students showed how smoke moves through a structure—offering our firefighters a clearer, real-time look at smoke behavior, ventilation, and spread. Opportunities like this help strengthen our understanding of how to effectively manage these conditions during an emergency.

We appreciate the students’ innovation and collaboration in supporting fire safety and training efforts here in our community! 🤝

The West Virginia University State Fire Academy hosted a hands-on training this week at Morgantown Municipal Airport, giving local firefighters the opportunity to sharpen critical emergency response skills.

Rookies Aidan Petrakovich and Caleb Vernon participated in a simulated plane crash scenario, working through conditions designed to test coordination, decision-making, and response time.

Training like this happens year-round, ensuring our firefighters are prepared for anything they may face in the field.

Their commitment to readiness doesn’t go unnoticed, we appreciate the work they put in every day to keep the community safe.

We encourage everyone to rely on official sources for accurate information and to avoid sharing unverified posts. Thank you for helping our community stay informed and safe!

This week, we had the honor of attending two very special awards ceremonies recognizing first responders who recently made a life-saving difference. In just the past few months, Morgantown firefighters achieved successful resuscitations from full cardiac arrest on not just one, but two separate occasions. Even more remarkably, both survivors have returned to their regular, everyday lives—an incredibly rare outcome. According to the American Red Cross, fewer than 9% of cardiac arrest survivors are discharged from the hospital with ordinary neurological function.

We are beyond proud to recognize the firefighters whose extraordinary skill, teamwork, and commitment made these outcomes possible: Hunter Bishop, Caleb Vernon, Chris Deberry, Trevor Pickenpaugh, Dan Levin, Kaden Nelson, David Ross Jr., and Lt. Eric Nickelson. Their dedication to protecting and serving our community goes above and beyond, and we are incredibly grateful to have them on our team. 🫡

It was a privilege to celebrate alongside Monongalia EMS, whose highly proficient and knowledgeable team played a critical role in these life-saving outcomes as well. Moments like these are a powerful reminder that a coordinated, all-hands response can truly make a difference. We're grateful to work with Mon EMS and we thank them for their continued commitment to serving our community! 🤝

On Tuesday, we stopped by Krepps Park to spend some time with a group of young students from the WVU Child Learning Center! They had the chance to explore the fire truck, meet our arson detection canine, and ask plenty of great questions about what firefighters do to keep our community safe. To top it all off, the students received their very own firefighter helmets to take home.

We'd like to thank to the WVU Child Learning Center for this opportunity to connect with these curious and enthusiastic future leaders! Moments like these remind us how important it is to educate and inspire. 🔥👨‍🚒
