🌍 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026

A healthier planet creates healthier communities.

At the Eye Foundation of America, we believe that protecting sight and protecting our environment are deeply connected. Clean air, safe water, sustainable living, and healthy ecosystems contribute to better health outcomes and a brighter future for generations to come.

As we celebrate World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to building a world where every child can see, learn, and thrive in a safe and sustainable environment.

Environmental stewardship is not the responsibility of a few—it is the shared responsibility of all humanity. Every tree planted, every water source protected, every community empowered, and every sustainable choice made today helps create a healthier tomorrow.

For 50 years, Eye Foundation of America has worked to transform lives through vision care. As we look toward the future, we recognize that preserving our planet is essential to preserving the health, dignity, and opportunities of future generations.

"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children."

This World Environment Day, let us unite in action, compassion, and responsibility to create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable world for all.

SAVE THE DATE | 29 January 2027 | New York City

For 50 years, Eye Foundation of America (EFA) has stood for one powerful mission — enabling futures by saving the sight of children.

Since 1977, EFA has helped transform countless young lives through childhood blindness prevention, pediatric eye care, vision restoration, education, advocacy, and global partnerships dedicated to building a World Without Childhood Blindness.

As part of its Golden Jubilee Celebrations, EFA will convene global leaders, visionaries, philanthropists, healthcare pioneers, and changemakers at the iconic Rockefeller Foundation, New York on 29 January 2027 for a landmark evening celebrating five decades of impact and the future ahead.

The event will feature:
• EFA Golden Jubilee Celebrations
• Robert Murphy Visionary Leadership Awards
• Global Call for a World Without Childhood Blindness

From restoring sight to restoring hope, EFA’s journey over the last five decades has proven that investing in children’s vision is one of the highest-impact investments in humanity’s future.

Together as one — we move forward towards a World Without Childhood Blindness.

FROM THE HOUSE OF LORDS TO ROCKEFELLER CENTER: THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

In January 2026, leaders, visionaries, clinicians, diplomats, and global advocates gathered at the historic House of Lords, London, united by a bold belief:

A world where no child goes blind from preventable causes is possible.

That moment was not an end. It was the beginning of a larger global movement.

Today, we are honored to announce the next chapter.

✨ As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Eye Foundation of America (EFA) – 50 Years of Service (1977–2027), the International Day for a World Without Childhood Blindness will be commemorated on:

📍 Rockefeller Center, New York
đź“… Friday, January 29, 2027

While the International Day falls on Sunday, January 31, 2027, the global celebration will be observed on Friday, January 29, bringing together leaders from healthcare, philanthropy, diplomacy, academia, development, and humanitarian service.

The evening will also feature the Robert Murphy Visionary Leadership Awards, honoring extraordinary individuals and institutions advancing sight, hope, and opportunity for children worldwide.

For nearly five decades, EFA has worked toward restoring sight, preventing blindness, strengthening eye care systems, and transforming lives.

Now, as we mark 50 years of impact, we reaffirm an even bigger vision:

No child should lose sight because of where they are born.
No child should lose opportunity because blindness was preventable.
No child should be left behind.

From London’s House of Lords to New York’s Rockefeller Center, we invite the world to stand together.

One vision. One movement. One future.

A World Without Childhood Blindness.
