Burke County Emergency Medical Services provides pre-hospital medical services to over 92,000 citizens of Burke County and covers all of the 511 square miles of the county. Burke County Emergency Medical Services currently has seven (7) stations located across the county. Burke County Emergency Medical Services offers numerous response services other than pre-hospital medicine and transports. EMS also operates a Special Operations Unit that responds to Wilderness Medical situations, and special situations with Law Enforcement and Fire Departments, specialized coverage for Mass Gatherings and Special Events, and Mass Decontamination along with the Burke County Hazardous Materials Team and State Medical Assistance Team. Four (4) Special Operations Team members serve as members of the NC Helicopter-Aquatic Rescue Team (HART) which serves as a Taskforce of NC National Guard Helicopters and specialty trained Paramedics and Firefighters in the field of Operation Level Helicopter Technicians. The Special Operations Team is made up of EMS Staff with specialized training and physical requirements. Pre-hospital Medicine has advanced tremendously in the past 35 years to an enhanced level of treatments and skills. Burke County Emergency Medical Services is on the cutting edge of pre-hospital care and continuing to strive for excellence in the field of Emergency Medicine.

UPDATE 1415: At this time the event has been named Yellow Fork Fire, and it is currently 80% contained.

UPDATE 1230: Approximately 30 acres at this time, plan is to put wet line around the fire due to increased fire and fuel conditions.

UPDATE 1130: This is still a working fire, actively working on containment. Fire has jumped northern fire line at this time, acreage will be reevaluated when possible.

UPDATE 0830: This is currently a multi-agency response, and there are no structures threatened at this time.

Burke County resources have responded to a working brush fire located in the vicinity of Old NC 105/Dobson k**b area.

This remains an active fire at this time. Residents in the area should be mindful of heavy smoke conditions and use caution while traveling nearby.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Burke County EMS is proud to congratulate Logan Fry on his recent promotion to C Shift Training Sergeant.

Sgt. Fry brings nearly 20 years of emergency services experience to this role, including more than a decade of dedicated service with Burke County EMS, where he has been a vital member of our Special Operations Team.

Most recently, Sgt. Fry earned his Critical Care Paramedic certification, further demonstrating his commitment to professional growth and excellence in patient care. In addition to his EMS service, he serves as Captain with Oak Hill Fire and Rescue, where he has organized and managed numerous large-scale events and training sessions.

Sgt. Fry’s leadership, experience, and dedication to the emergency services profession continue to make a lasting impact on our organization and the communities we serve.

Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Fry on this well-deserved promotion!

Good morning everyone,

We are currently experiencing an issue with the NC TERMS self-registration process for the upcoming water exercise. NC TERMS IT is actively working to correct the issue.

At this time, self-registration is unavailable, however registrations can still be completed manually.

If you need to register for the exercise, please email me directly at my work email with:
• First and Last Name
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

I will complete the TERMS registration for you manually.

Happy International Firefighters Day! 🚒

Today, and every day, we are honored in Burke County to have more than 500 of the most dedicated men and women serving our communities as firefighters. From career personnel to volunteers, these individuals selflessly give their time, talent, and attention to providing exceptional service day in and day out.

We are incredibly grateful for all 19 fire departments across Burke County and for the sacrifices made by each firefighter and their families. Your commitment, courage, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

Thank you for everything you do to keep Burke County safe, and thank you for answering the call to serve.
