REMINDER

Nine months after WHATLEY was named recovery czar, only 9% of needs had been met in Western NC, versus over 70% federal cost-share after storms like Katrina, Maria, and Sandy.

More than 100 Western North Carolinians called for his removal from the FEMA Review Council and protested a closed-door “listening session,” and reporting described him as rarely visible in the disaster zone.

Whatley often calls himself a “son of western North Carolina” and says he “grew up” in Blowing Rock, but records show he was born in Michigan and only lived in Blowing Rock roughly three years during high school before moving elsewhere in the state for college.

The total refund is expected to be about $166 billion, roughly 63% of 2025’s total customs-duty revenue.

Refunds also come with statutory interest — 7% for individual importers, 6% for corporations, compounded daily from the date the duty was originally paid.

Know definitions before you fall for the PROPAGANDA!

How can the Democratic Party be Marxist and Communist?

They cannot because the definitions make it IMPOSSIBLE!

Marxism is an economic/philosophical framework about class struggle and abolishing private ownership of production; communism is a specific political system built on Marxist theory (one-party state control, collectivized economy, like the USSR or China). Democratic socialism, which is what most of the Democratic Party’s left flank actually identifies with, is different still — it keeps capitalism and elections but wants stronger social programs and regulation, more like Scandinavian-style systems. Conflating all three is not accurate as a description of the Democratic Party, which overwhelmingly supports market capitalism.

Irony is officially DEAD.

Rick Scott was CEO of Columbia/HCA, the hospital chain that, under his leadership, was raided by the FBI, IRS, and HHS in 1997 in what became the largest healthcare fraud investigation in U.S. history at the time . He resigned under board pressure in July 1997, shortly after the raids , and walked away with about $9.88 million in cash plus stock and options worth over $350 million .

The company itself ultimately paid $1.7 billion in fines to settle charges of rampant Medicare fraud — a record at the time , and pleaded guilty to 14 felony convictions  related to systematic overbilling, false diagnosis codes, and kickbacks for referrals.

The House Ethics Committee recommended Monday that lawmakers censure Rep. Chuck Edwards for engaging in “persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct towards two young female staffers” — cataloguing multiple episodes of sexual harassment by the married lawmaker.

Congressman Chuck Edwards called us a "mob of haters"....WNC knows who is the hater of young women!

The House Ethics Committee recommended Monday that lawmakers censure Rep. Chuck Edwards for engaging in “persistent unprofessional and inappropriate conduct towards two young female staffers” — cataloguing multiple episodes of sexual harassment by the married lawmaker.

Censure is the most severe punishment the panel can recommend short of expulsion, requiring targeted members to submit to a public shaming on the floor. The bipartisan panel said it plans to bring a privileged resolution to a vote once the House returns to session later this month.
