๐ Tropical Storm Bertha Update
Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to move west along the Upper Texas Coast today and move inland later this afternoon or evening. Significant impacts are not expected for La Porte, but we encourage everyone to continue monitoring weather conditions.
๐ง๏ธ Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly along and south of I-10
๐จ Gusty winds are possible, especially near the coast
๐ Tides may run 1โ2 feet above normal, with minor coastal flooding possible in vulnerable areas
โ Overall rainfall amounts are expected to remain relatively low
Last night was also a good reminder of how quickly weather conditions can change. A strong thunderstorm moved through the east side of La Porte, resulting in damaged and downed trees, downed power lines, and scattered debris.
Even when widespread severe weather is not expected, a single strong thunderstorm can still create localized impacts.
The La Porte EOC will continue monitoring Bertha and other weather conditions throughout the day. Stay weather aware and be prepared to take action if conditions change.
