OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN SYSTEM MODERNIZATION: PHASE 1 COMPLETE

The City of Morgan’s Point Resort Public Safety has successfully completed Phase 1 of our outdoor warning siren modernization project with the installation of the CommanderOne LE control and monitoring platform.

So, what does this mean for our community?

• Improved Reliability: The new system continuously monitors siren status and performance, helping identify issues before they impact emergency operations.

• Real-Time Monitoring: Authorized personnel can instantly view the operational status of each siren, reducing the need for manual inspections and improving response to maintenance needs.

• Faster Issue Detection: If a siren experiences a fault or communication problem, staff can be notified quickly, allowing corrective action to be taken sooner.

• Enhanced Emergency Preparedness: Modernized control and monitoring capabilities help ensure our outdoor warning siren system remains ready when it is needed most.

Outdoor warning sirens remain one part of a layered emergency notification strategy. Residents are encouraged to also maintain multiple methods of receiving emergency information, including CodeRED notifications, local media, and NOAA Weather Radio.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to strengthen public safety and emergency preparedness throughout our community.

🫀 It's CPR Awareness Week — and knowing CPR could mean the difference between life and death.

Every year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals in the U.S. Immediate CPR and AED use can DOUBLE or even TRIPLE someone's chance of survival.

💡 Hands-Only CPR is easier than you think — just 2 steps:
1️⃣ Call 911 the moment you see a teen or adult collapse
2️⃣ Push HARD and FAST in the center of the chest to the beat of "Stayin' Alive" (100 BPM)

That's it. No mouth-to-mouth required for teens and adults.

👶 For infants and children, the American Heart Association recommends CPR with breaths. Over 23,000 kids experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year — 40% related to sports, nearly 20% are infants.

📵 Don't know CPR? Call 911 - Telecommunicators will walk you through every step until help arrives.

🤝 Join the American Heart Association - CPR & First Aid and be ready to step up for a loved one, neighbor, friend, or coworker.

To finish up this week of speeding awareness before everyone heads into the holiday weekend…

The lake will still be there. The barbecue will still be hot. Your family and friends would rather see you arrive late than not at all.

Slow down, watch for others on the road, and help make this holiday weekend a safe one for everyone.

Have you noticed a difference between the posted speed limit and what your GPS or map app is showing?

Sometimes navigation apps are slow to update when speed limits change. Please remember that the actual street signs are the legal speed limits — not the app on your phone or vehicle.

Keep your eyes on the road signs, drive safely, and help us keep everyone safe in our community. 🚔
