As we continue to celebrate our United Community Bank UCHS Athletic Hall of Fame class, we’re happy to feature Chad Lamb!
Chad Pryor Lamb built an outstanding athletic legacy at Union County High School as a two-sport standout in football and baseball. A four-year football letterman, Chad started every game of his high school career, establishing a reputation for toughness, durability, leadership, and relentless play.
A dominant defensive presence, Chad earned recognition at the conference, regional, state, and national levels. He was selected to the Evansville Courier & Press All-Region Team in 1995 and 1996, was a two-time Henderson Gleaner All-Region selection, and earned All-WKC honors in 1994, 1995, and 1996. Following his senior season, he was selected to participate in the 1996 All-WKC All-Star Game and was named to the 74th Annual Courier-Journal All-State Football Team. Chad also received national recognition in 1996 when he was named among Gridiron Greats of America's Top High School Football Prospects.
His statistics reflected the impact he made on the field. During his junior and senior seasons, Chad recorded more than 30 quarterback sacks, 25 quarterback hurries, and 10 passes broken up. One of the signature performances of his career came in 1996 when he recorded an extraordinary seven quarterback sacks in a single game, accounting for 49 yards in losses. Chad was known for being a big hitter, a description that fittingly followed him from the football field to the baseball diamond. As a standout baseball player for Union County High School, he displayed the same power and competitive intensity at the plate and became the UCHS all-time career home run leader.
His accomplishments at Union County provided Chad the opportunity to continue his football career at Murray State University. He spent five years as a member of the Murray State football program, earned a varsity letter, and graduated from Murray State University. Chad was also honored with the Ralph Horning Leadership Award and Scholarship, recognition of the leadership, character, and commitment that complemented his athletic ability.
Athletics have remained an important part of Chad's life long after his own playing career. Today, some of his greatest pride comes from supporting the athletic pursuits of his children. His son, Pryor Lamb, is a quarterback at Lindsey Wilson University, while his daughter, Kenli Lamb, competes in wrestling for the Union County High School Bravettes.
From his durability as a four-year football letterman, to his dominant defensive performances, to his record-setting power on the baseball diamond, Chad Pryor Lamb left a lasting mark on Union County athletics. His career represents the competitiveness, toughness, leadership, and commitment to excellence that define the tradition of Union County sports. - Congratulations!
