Update on the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program
There has been a delay with the printing of the cards from the provider. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture will not release the funds for the cards until they are received from the printer and delivered to the participating counties. At this time, that is projected to be mid-May. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more details. Luckily, the vouchers are good until October 31, so there is plenty of time to get all of the delicious local fruits and vegetables!
On another note, our distribution amount this year has been significantly reduced. We typically receive funds for 50 vouchers. For 2026, we will only have 37 vouchers available. Please, only reach out to apply for the program if it is a personal need and you will utilize 100% of the funds. 100% utlization is key to keeping this program in Union County. The Downtown Morganfield Farmers Market and the market in Sturgis are going to be outstanding this year! We worked for many years to bring the SFMNP to Union County and we want to see it continue to flourish.
Please keep checking back for updates and announcements for when cards will be distributed!
