The Environmental Services Division empowers youth, adults & businesses to practice sustainability.

Morgan Hill is located in southern Santa Clara Valley, approximately 12 miles south of San Jose, 10 miles north of Gilroy and 15 miles inland from the Pacific Coast. The Valley is approximately 4 miles wide and is surrounded by the Santa Cruz mountain range to the west and the Diablo range to the east. General Information:

☀️Trying to get your yard and pavement summer ready?☀️
Follow these tips to manage your outdoor spaces while still protecting storm drains.
Pavement Cleaning
- Do not hose down paved areas. Instead, use a mop or rag and properly dispose of wash water into the sanitary sewer
- Sweep pavement to get rid of yard waste and properly dispose of it in the green collection bin
Landscaping
- Do not put yard waste into the street or drain. Instead, compost it or put it into the green collection bins
- Do not put synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers where it can runoff or be wash away into the storm drain. Instead, use natural or non-toxic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers
- Avoid runoff from sprinklers by adhering to our once a week watering schedules and conduct regular sprinkler maintenance

Greener Car Washing Tips

Did you know… commerical car facilities are required to treat their water? Treating the water helps to protect our waterways, keeping them safe for all the enjoy.

If you wash your car at home, use the following tips to keep our creeks clean.
1. Wash on gravel, grass, or other permeable surfaces
2. Use plain water with a sponge or biodegradable, phosophate-free soaps
3. Use a trigger nozzle or a bucket to conserve water and minimize runoff
4. Always empty wash buckets into sinks or toilets

How you can help keep Morgan Hill clean!

Individual citizens in our community can help make our waterways cleaner just by picking up dog waste. Help your pooch not pollute – scoop it, bag it, and toss it! Throwing away your dog's waste will improve the health of our environment, as well as keep those safe who enjoy swimming, wading, and playing in water.

If you see a spill on the pavement or entering a storm drain in Morgan
Hill, Gilroy, or Unincorporated Santa Clara County, call the pollution
hotline immediately to report the spill.
