The St. Mary Parish Youth Prevention Coalition invites you to 2nd Annual Light The Night: Candlelight Vigil & Walk Of Hope โ€” an evening dedicated to remembering those weโ€™ve lost, supporting those who are struggling, and reminding our community that there is always a reason to stay.

Twenty-five years ago, at 8:46 AM, the entire world as we knew it was shaken...

8:46 AM โ€” American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
9:03 AM โ€” United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower.
9:37 AM โ€” American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.
9:59 AM โ€” The South Tower collapsed after burning for 56 minutes.
10:03 AM โ€” United Airlines Flight 93, after the heroic actions of passengers and crew, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, preventing another attack.
10:28 AM โ€” The North Tower collapsed after standing for 102 minutes.

In 102 minutes, the course of history was forever changed.

Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost, thousands more were injured, and the ripple effects touched every corner of our nation. Yet, in those darkest hours, we also witnessed immeasurable bravery, sacrifice, and an unshakable spirit of unity.

The phrase most often tied to this day is โ€œNever Forget.โ€ Yet at times, it can feel as though weโ€™ve forgotten what it truly felt like... how, for a brief moment in our history, all divisions disappeared, and we came together as one. The pain was so immense, everything else was left behind, and what mattered most was each other.

โ€œUnited we stand, divided we fall.โ€
These words remind us that our greatest strength has always been found in unity. In neighbors helping neighbors, strangers showing compassion, and communities rising together.

May we honor the memory of those we lost by choosing kindness, compassion, and unity every day.
