Raymond Degidio This is my first large deck and its been a nightmare since the beginning. I've ended up doing 90% of this solo after my helper got arrested.

Constant bad weather causing delays. Im now almost 3 months in. There's finally an end in site and now I've run in

What would you do here?
There's two issues:

The rounded opening wasn't accounted for when installing the floors so the gap extended into the radius making it hard to hide with base and shoe.

The drywall guys didn't extend the arched bullnose to the floor, leaving a 1/4" gap from the floor.

I'm thinking about ending the base and shoe when the radius starts, then unfortunately using flexible shoe around the opening through to the other side. Thoughts? Any other way to do this?

Don’t be lazy like me to save yourself a few hundred bucks and 1 day. I’m limited to a 4x4 platform (to match the previous build in place) because it’s a means of egress and is currently in violation of setbacks, but the previous steps were quite literally falling apart. In a bout of silliness I decided not to dig out and redo footings…

That 6x6 is closer to the edge of that footing than I am to giving up. Outside joist rests centered on that 6x6, but boy it looks… great.

Is my contractor right that another coat of tint will barely change the color of my heart pine floors? We’re refinishing our heart pine floors, and I’m trying to decide if I’m being too picky or if my contractor is right.

I’d like the floors to be just a little less yellow, with slightly less contrast in the grain. I also feel like the quarter round/perimeter is noticeably darker than the rest of the floor.

My contractor says they’re the prettiest heart pine floors he’s ever seen and that adding another coat of tint would hardly make a difference anyway.
For those with experience with heart pine: is he right? Is there realistically anything that could be done to tone down the yellow and grain contrast a little, or is this just part of how heart pine takes stain?

I’m not looking for a huge color change. Just a tweak.

Thank you in advance! We are at the finish line of our renovation and this is the last big hurdle.

How to take care of kitchen floor brick? Just bought a house and inherited kitchen floor made of brick! Didn't even consider how to clean it. I assume there's some deep cleaning needing to be done, but quite lost on exactly what to do.

Portions of the house have capped over fireplaces with brick that looks to be about 1/4 of the normal thickness of brick, I believe it is the same brick as well!

Thank you for the help!

Edit to add: no intention to get rid of the brick or tile over it! I like the look and feel of the brick.

A really small roof… on a roof. I’m not sure how else to explain it other than a tiny roof built on a roof. I was stopped at a traffic light briefly when I noticed it, so I only had enough time to take a picture but not enough to notice any other details except what can be seen in the photo. I think there is some kind of mesh or type of barrier at the front of it, rather than being an open hole. My guess is a vent of some kind but I don’t know enough about the innards of a house to confidently know what it could be venting.

Client asked for a curved fence! Built a custom 3' fence for a client this week. Had to brainstorm a bit, but this was the final product. Well still have some sanding and screwing. What do you all think?

Thanks everyone for the awesome support! I'm blown away by all the positive reactions! Honestly, this is the first time posting any of our builds, because, let's be real, Reddit can be scary when you're showing off your work!

Contractor says it’s ready for backfill and slab. They filled it with pea gravel concrete on Friday.
I bought up that they left out the vertical rebar at the corners and the horizontal ladders on Saturday. I was reassured they used fiber in the block fill so no ladders needed. But that they would check with the structural engineer on Monday about what to do about the missing vertical bar at the corners.
Now I’m no mason…but this seems 🫣
8/31 - First update: Got a motion notification on my cam just before 7 this morning. Pulled it up and it was a laborer out there mixing mortar. I immediately called the GC and told him someone was out there and to stop all work immediately. He said they weren’t supposed to be out there and thanks for letting him know. We’re all meeting in site at 10am this morning.
2nd update: Another guy has shown up with a woman and 3 toddlers and is now helping.
3rd update: SEOR is in the ER right now post tonsillectomy bleeding. Meeting for 10am is still on minus him.

Neighbour has erected fence panel made of baby gate. A month ago I put up a trellis over the dividing wall between my garden and my neighbour's to add a bit more privacy. This covered the length of the dividing wall but left a small gap at one end where the dividing block wall meets a stone wall.
In a bid to prevent cats walking along the stone wall my neighbour has jury rigged this fence panel out of a baby gate. It is held on by a mix of small screws into other neighbour's fence, and plant wire onto a rickety pole. I assume in part it has been constructed like this in a cost cutting excercise - they are not the homeowner.
Does anybody have any ideas for what I can suggest to put in its place? Or a way to cover it up? Ideally I'd like to replace it because I think it's a hazard in the current state. Currently it's giving fallout settlement vibes
