Clyde Brasher Obituary, United States Army Veteran

Manitou Beach β Clyde James Brasher DDS, passed away, Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on September 17, 1927, to Clyde L. and Dorothy J. Brasher in Dearborn, MI. The family moved to a farm near Hudson, MI where he went to Bean Patch Country School, then graduated from Fayette High School. For 18 months, he served in the U.S. Army with five of those months in Korea. Using his GI education grant, he attended Adrian College, Albion College, and the University of Michigan Dental School, graduating in 1954.
On June 18, 1954, he married Martha Wessel at Bethlehem Church, Ann Arbor, MI. They moved to Morenci, MI and opened a dental practice which they operated for 38 years. While in Morenci, he attended Morenci Congregational Church and was a member of Kiwanis Club of Morenci. Dr. Brasher appeared in a couple Womenless Weddings and other community activities.
At the age of 49, he started to downhill ski and joined the Toledo Ski Club. He continued to ski up to the age of 91. In retirement, he moved to Devils Lake and belonged to the Devils Lake Yacht Club. Clyde enjoyed sailing, swimming, golfing, woodworking, reading, writing poetry and playing euchre.
Dr Brasher is survived by his wife of 71 years, Martha. Their three daughters; Joy Brasher, Jane (Matt)Garrow, and Joan Brasher; and a granddaughter Claire Swirtz. He is survived by a sister Bonnie Peterson, a sister-in-law Mary Brasher, a brother-in-law Louis (Yetive) Wessel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Arnold Brasher, two brothers-in-law; Wayne Peterson, and Clare Wessel, and sister-in-law; Nadene (Jay) Burress.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Marry Funeral Home, Morenci, on Monday, June 8,2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial service begins at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Rex Riley Scholarship Fund c/o Morenci Kiwanis Club, the University of Michigan Dental School, or donor's choice.
