Water Service Update

The Morehead Utility Plant Board informed the City yesterday that water service has been restored to all customers who were disconnected due to issues related to the previous auto-pay system.

Of the 357 recent water disconnections, 157 involved customers who had previously been enrolled in auto-pay. As of yesterday morning, service had been restored to all of those customers.

Customers who were previously on auto-pay and had an outstanding balance that would have resulted in disconnection also received a door hanger at their residence with additional information.

The City appreciates the Plant Board’s response to our request that water service be restored for customers impacted by this transition. We are thankful that those customers have had their service restored and appreciate the Plant Board working with the City to address the issue.

We will continue to advocate for our residents and share additional information as it becomes available.

Today marks 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

As we honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call, we also remember one of our own.

Petty Officer First Class Edward T. Earhart, a Rowan County native and U.S. Navy aerographer's mate, was among those who perished at the Pentagon.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor all those who were lost on 9/11 and the families, friends, and communities forever changed by that day. Their memories endure, and their stories will never be forgotten.
