HR-1 is out actively checking road conditions…we have a few places in district that has water across the roadway from the ditches overflowing! The creeks and ditches will continue to rise with the rainfall! Remember Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten. As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us pause to remember those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy each day.

Rowan County has officially transitioned from the Rave alert system to Everbridge, our new emergency notification platform.

This upgraded system, will provide important notifications such as:

• Tornado Warnings
• Severe Thunderstorm Warnings
• Flash Flood Warnings
• Snow and Ice Advisories
• Road Closures due to construction
• Other emergency notifications affecting your area

Important: Even if you were previously signed up for Rave/Reverse 911, you must register again in Everbridge to continue receiving alerts.

• Free to residents
• Customizable (text, call, and email options)
• Designed to avoid unnecessary notifications

Congratulations to HXH Recruit Jaiden "Longhair" Fox. He passed his National Registry EMT-B Exam this week. He did this before even graduating high school. We are so proud of him! We know he will go far in life.

Happy Birthday 1433!

I thought I posted this on his birthday, but technology had other plans. I thought extremely hard about what I was going to say for Coop's Birthday, but there aren't enough words to truly convey how we feel about him!

Back in September, Tony was heading to get pizzas for our monthly business meeting when Morehead Fire Department got a medical call. I joked saying, "Tony is going to let our pizza get cold while he goes on this run." After listening for a few minutes, I heard the dreaded words "Firefighter Down" so I text Tony and told him that I would go get the pizzas while he was on that run, that he didn't have to stop.

(Little did we know, he was gonna let the pizzas get cold.)

I got back to the fire house, and I didn't realize it, but our "sky was falling". I had missed the words "Firefighter Cooper is down." Myself and everyone else here can agree, those were one the hardest moments of our lives. The Unknown. Thankfully Coop is alive and thriving today! You would never know what happened on that call by looking at him.

Coop is one of the best friends you can have. If you don't have a Coop, I suggest you find one, and hold on tight!

Now Coop....Listen up! This is the only long, sappy, heartfelt birthday post you get! Next year, you get the plain and boring, Happy Birthday HXH 1433 Tony Cooper. We hope you have a great day! So enjoy this post, it's the only one like it you will get. We love you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today has been a busy day at the Station! We had kiddos going to prom and also a special visitor came to make sure Engine 3 was repaired correctly (to his standards).

Firefighter Jaiden Fox and his date Amanda were es**rted to Prom by Assistant Chief Brian Burton in Engine 3 with an es**rt from HR-1.

Firefighter Lee Plank’s daughter Kenzie Boggs got her hair and makeup done by FF/EMT Montana Caudill

Special Guest Baylor Beau Thompson, Great Nephew of FF Rick Thomas and FF/EMT Montana Caudill came to make sure Engine 3 was repaired correctly and that all the lights and horns worked correctly!

We hope all the kiddos attending Prom and Project Prom tonight have a fun and safe evening!
