On September 9, 2026, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that the summer of 2026 was the hottest on record for the United States.
Unfortunately, the extreme heat may not be finished just yet. AccuWeather has issued a heat warning for Wednesday, September 16, as unusually hot conditions are expected to continue across the region.
Please take the heat seriously. Stay indoors and in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible, drink plenty of water, and avoid unnecessary strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day. If you must work or spend extended time outdoors, take frequent breaks in a cool or shaded area and pay attention to signs of heat exhaustion or heat-related illness.
Even though we're well into September, summer apparently isn't quite ready to let go.
