Carteret County Health and Human Services Protecting the health of Carteret County residents and providing essential human services. We have three divisions of services.

We are a county public health agency providing health services to individuals, families and the community. Clinic Programs and Services includes adult health, infant and well-child checkups, immunizations, communicable disease testing and treatment, women's health services, WIC, Mobile Dental Unit, Health Education/Promotion and Public Health Preparedness. Animal Control Division investigates case

s of animal abuse and neglect and sponsors rabies and spay neuter clinics. Environmental Health permits and inspects onsite waste water systems, private wells, inspects food, lodging and institutions, holds ServSafe classes and inspects public pools. Investigates food-borne illness outbreaks and elevated blood- lead levels in children.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia and causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. Someone with Alzheimer's disease may show signs of:
• Memory loss that disrupts daily life, such as getting lost in a familiar place or repeating questions.
• Difficulty completing familiar tasks.
• Confusion with time or place.
• Change in mood, personality, or behavior.
