Morehead City Parks and Recreation has formalized a “Residents First” registration program to recognize the residents, taxpayers, and property holders who directly support City facilities and services through municipal taxes and local investment. Under the adopted residency policy, residents are defined as individuals who live within the Morehead City corporate limits, pay Morehead City property taxes, or lease property within the city limits, with clear documentation standards to verify eligibility.

For eligible Parks & Recreation programs occurring after July 1, 2026, registration will open to residents first, and then one to two weeks later to the general public, if space remains available. This structure is designed to give Morehead City residents the first opportunity to enroll in high-demand, limited-capacity activities such as athletics, camps, and specialty recreation programs while still allowing non-residents to participate when openings remain.

Residents First Registration Opens: September 18
General Registration Opens: October 2
