Concordia College MBDA

Concordia College MBDA This page is dedicated to information regarding the Concordia College chapter of the Minnesota Band Director's Association.

For the 2013-2014 academic school year, MBDA was combined with the organization NAfME. Each organization was undergoing a makeover and coming up with new visions and methods for how they would operate in the upcoming years. MBDA is now seeking to separate and become it’s own organization for the more concentrated group of instrumental music education majors as opposed to all music education majors

. MBDA will host monthly meetings that seek to answer questions about the instrumental music education field, specifically questions not answered in regular academic classes. These sessions will feature faculty in the department and will also host guest speakers with experience in the sessions’ topics. Examples from this past year’s topics are “Clinicals & Student Teaching: Making the Most Out of your Experience”, “Teaching Music Elective Courses”, “The Hiring Process”, etc.

The events in Minneapolis these past few days have left many with heavy hearts. As we move forward as current and future music educators, we must be dedicated to supporting all of our students from different backgrounds and with different experiences. If you are looking for ways to support the communities that are currently being affected by this tragedy, we have put some resources in our bio.
