e University of Minnesota Extension, working with the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, trains volunteers to educate the public with research-based information on the best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship. Each year, University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener volunteers give more than 135,000 hours to their communities—a public value worth more than $2.9 million. Master Gardener activities benefit schools, community gardens, youth programs, environmental education programs and farmers markets. These enthusiastic and highly trained volunteers make Minnesota communities more sustainable, beautiful, knowledgeable and fun.
