Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. As a school community, we honor the lives lost, remember the heroes who answered the call, and reflect on the strength, unity, and resilience that carried our nation through one of its darkest days.

Even though our students were born long after 2001, seeing them take part in various ceremonies this morning reminds us that hope and unity are timeless lessons. From our Mooresville High School, North Carolina NJROTC and Honors Choir taking part in the Town's 9/11 Commemoration at Liberty Park to our littlest Park View Elementary School Patriots showing honor at the flag pole, age does not define love of country.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our local firefighters, police officers, and emergency response workers who joined us today. May we never forget the fallen, and may we always strive to bring the spirit of unity that we witnessed following 9/11 into our lives everyday.

The Mooresville Graded School District is proud to announce exceptional results from the latest North Carolina state accountability reporting, highlighting top-ranking academic performance, outstanding student growth, and unmatched graduation success.

MGSD continues to stand out as an educational leader in both the region and the state. Notably, MGSD is one of only three school districts in all of North Carolina where every single school met state growth targets and zero schools were identified as low-performing.

District schools swept the top rankings for student growth in mathematics across Iredell County:

🔹 Mooresville Middle School (MMS) earned the #1 spot for math growth in Iredell County.
🔹 Selma Burke Middle School (SBMS) secured #2 in the county for math growth.
🔹 East Mooresville Intermediate School (EMIS) holds the #1 spot among all elementary/intermediate schools in the county for math growth.

Statewide Excellence in Math, Multilingual Progress, and Graduation Rates
In addition to strong regional growth, MGSD achieved remarkable statewide academic milestones when compared to the 115 school districts in North Carolina:

🔹 Top 5 Statewide Achievement: MGSD students ranked in the top 5 across North Carolina for achievement in Math 4 and Math 8.
🔹 #1 Graduation Rate: MGSD achieved the #1 four-year cohort graduation rate in the state of North Carolina, reinforcing the district's commitment to ensuring every student graduates prepared for post-secondary education, military enlistment, or careers.
🔹 #7 in Multilingual Learner (ML) Progress: Demonstrating deep commitment to student equity and growth, MGSD ranked #7 statewide for annual progress among Multilingual Learners.

"These results reflect the dedication, passion, and hard work of our educators, students, and families," said Dr. Jason Gardner, Superintendent of Mooresville Graded School District. "To have every single one of our schools meet state growth standards, while eliminating any low-performing designations, speaks to the strength of our instructional focus. We are immensely proud of our students' achievements in mathematics, our multilingual programs, and our status as the top-ranking district in North Carolina for graduation rates."

MGSD will build on this momentum in the upcoming school year by continuing to refine targeted interventions, expanding enrichment opportunities, and supporting the district's overarching mission to be a learning community that provides a supportive environment where everyone can reach their full potential.

MGSD believes the arts are important to developing the whole child. We are fortunate to have a strong arts program for our entire community to enjoy! If you want to experience a bit of the talent of our fantastic students, come to the MHS variety show on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-8pm. The theme this fall is "Night at the movies" and there are different acts each night. Both should be great shows!
