Hello, Team Billie.

Thanks to the grassroots effort of many, we've left it all on the field.

These past few weeks...
😁 We've had hundreds of conversations at early voting...
😁 Walked over 20 neighborhoods with door hangers...
😁 Made over 700 phone calls...
😁 Sent text messages to thousands to get out the vote...
😁 Commented on and shared hundreds of social posts...
😁 Introduced countless friends to our campaign...
😁 Wrote "Letters to the Editor"...
😁 And so much more.

It's been a wild ride and we've been positive throughout it. I'm feeling confident but regardless of the outcome, I'm proud of us. Working together, we're changing hearts and minds and creating a groundswell of awareness and action that goes beyond this election.

I'm so grateful to you all. Thank you for believing in me. 💛💛💛

I've spent my professional life mentoring and advocating for women in the workplace - encouraging them to embrace and be who they are. Strong women bring a unique perspective and approach to our homes, schools, and leadership roles. Being empathetic to others' needs and feelings and being community-minded with a purpose is innate. It certainly is for Sarah, Anna, and me.

Almiya White and WSOC-TV, I'm grateful for this opportunity to speak about why gender diversity is essential in our local public offices. And why NOW is the time to ELECT Billie Spevak (District 5) and Sarah Pittman for School Board to the Iredell-Statesville Board of Education. 💛💛💛

I joined Sarah Parker-Pittman (ISS - District 3 candidate for school board in the Statesville area) and Anna Bonham (former school board member) for an interview with WSOC Channel 9’s Almiya White, to discuss the importance of women holding elected office, especially on the school board. 💛💛💛

Because, for me, being on our school board isn't political. Our kids' education is not one-sided. We are not raising little republicans or democrats; we're raising critical and creative thinkers to be curious and respectful humans. 💛💛💛

Yesterday while I was at the War Memorial greeting voters, my opponent went out of his way to verbally attack two of my Team Billie supporters at the Lake Norman Fire Station. He angrily labeled them and me "cowards" for "not taking a side." Deb and Jen are strong and brave women who have spent their lives serving our kids and public education. 💛

🫵 His behavior is not okay! It cannot be excused or normalized.

The ultimate BRAVERY is standing alone and standing up for what you believe when others want to define and control you. I have picked a side - I stand with and for our kids, teachers, administrators, and parents who want to build up and not tear down our local public schools.

This election is not about allegiance to a political party. It's about who you believe has the character, skills, and passion to bring us together around the core issues:

☑️ attracting and retaining teachers and TAs
☑️ closing the learning gap
☑️ funding pre-k/early intervention
☑️ improving child nutrition and wellness
☑️ eliminating bullying and ensuring safety
☑️ restoring confidence/respect in our system

The path forward to common ground and positive change lies in respectful listening while embracing creative and common sense ideas. A proud ISS parent, PTSO Chair, and professional facilitator - this is who I am and at the heart of why I want to be your District 5 School Board representative.

Like we tell our kids, please do your homework. Then GO VOTE for the person who is most fit to represent your family and this community.
