It works to improve historical communications in Indiana.

Mark your calendars! A Memories Project is going to be live on Porch Time on May 15th beginning at 7pm. There will be a live interview with former Judge, Jim Harris, former Mayor, Phil Deckard and former everything including Sheriff, Paul Mason. Susan Thomlinson and Volitta Fritsche will be meeting with them as they share some of their many experiences serving in Morgan County. Morgan County Associate Historian and Monrovia teacher Steve Reeder has been awarded a Golden Apple for his contribution to the education of his students. He certainly is an asset...a blessing to them as well as the Monrovia Community and our county. Congratulations Steve

Tomorrow morning at 11:00 will be the ribbon cutting opening of the Morgan County Museum and History Center. This will be the culmination of years of planning and a dedicated persevering of a group of wonderful giving citizens of the county. It is good the have them in our midst. I hope you all can make the opening... and then experience the benefits of their labor. One should ever leave things better than they found them. That has surely been accomplish. Congratulations The Museum is located at 127 South Main Street, Martinsville, IN...next to the 1st Christian Church

So many exciting things happening. First, if you have articles of any sort that might be of interest to the History of Morgan county, please bring them today to the new Museum and History Center between 10;00 and 2;00. The center is next to the Christian Church..corner of Jackson and South Main. Secondly, if you are interested in being a part of the Morgan county/Martinsville Bicentennial Committee, PM me your email and I will send you a link for our meetings we meet tomorrow ( 3/18) evening at 7:00 via zoom.

Well, it has been too long since I made a post. In Morgan county history folks are making history with the Morgan County museum and History Center. it is coming together nicely and will be opening in the near future... what a fine team of folks. it wil be just in time for our Morgan County and Martinsville Bicentennial Celebrations.

Good morning. The Indiana Historical Society is asking for Hoosiers to help document this historical event, the COVID-19 pandemic. They want to hear from individuals, families and communities about how they are experiencing and living in this “new normal,” and have set up a special online tool that will allow people to share their writings, photos, drawings, paintings and short videos so future generations can understand what this experience was like for Hoosiers. You and your family might also consider making a personal journal so down the road when this is past, the generations to come will "know." what you experienced. My Grandfather, Jim Davee, returned from WWI with the Spanish Flu. His words from that now would be a comfort.. Be safe.

I will be presenting a program about farm life in both the late 19th century and some about the era of the Great Depression. It will be at 1:00 on March 24 at Mt. Gilead Church on 144 East of Mooresville before you get to Five Points
