I would like to thank Glenwood Fire Department for hosting the bimonthly district meeting for July. While at Glenwood, I had the pleasure to present 10 years of service pins to Firefighter Michael Bittinger and Anthony Marlett!
During this meeting, we had presentations from Citizens First Fire Training, and from IDEM. It is always a pleasure to open our meetings up to our partners in the fire service and allow networking opportunities!
As our normal business concluded, our annual district elections took place, per the bylaws of the association. As previously reported earlier in the year, I had been seeking a willing, qualified, professionalism driven individual to take over the district as chairman. I spoke with several folks who fill that characteristic, however they didn’t want to commit just yet due to other obligations. I respect that reason 100%.
Our team leading the district has made it a priority to be 100% transparent in all our doings, serve our members and district with respect, integrity, and striving to ensure that our district grows in meeting attendance, and providing a variety of opportunities for skills growth, learning opportunities, raising several thousands of dollars yearly for Hoosier Burn Camp, and rolling out a giveaway of fire equipment for those in need, which could not be possible without the help and support of the fire departments within the district. For that, I say THANK YOU!
I say that to say this; I am no longer serving as your district chairman. I am still going to be around and here to help you and support your departments. It has been an honor to serve as your chairman for the last 5 years. I’ve had one heck of a team, and because of them, district 13b shined bright!
Jeff Biehl worked hard to take the lead for the district, and I wish him all the best! Please keep him in the loop, as you all did for me. I’ll be assisting as his vice chairman, so you can still reach out to me if you need to.
I will be transitioning contact information on this page over the next couple of days, so you may notice some differences.
Have a great weekend ahead, and I thank you all again for your support over the last 5 years!
Anthony Smith.
