🚨 COMMUNITY SAFETY PSA 🚨

When you see or hear emergency vehicles responding, please remember:

1. Put your blinker on
2. Pull over to the side of the road and STOP
3. Do not slow-roll or keep moving
4. Re-enter the roadway only after the vehicle has fully passed

🚒 IMPORTANT: Move over and STOP.

Slow-rolling or trying to “stay out of the way” while still moving creates confusion and puts responders, patients, and other drivers at risk.

A few seconds of patience can make a life-saving difference.

Thank you for helping keep our firefighters, EMTs, and neighbors safe.

🚨 Call Report 🚨

Last night in the midst of the snow storm, your MVFC #1 volunteers operated mutual aid at a chimney fire in Mohegan’s district on Fitch Hill Rd.

8 total members and 2 total apparatus responded to the incident including M-12 and M-15.

An initial report came in as a structure fire, possible roofline or chimney fire, with Mohegan’s Deputy Chief arriving first on scene and reporting an active chimney fire. M-23 arrived on scene, followed by M-15 and M-12. Due to the long and narrow driveway, M-15 was not able to set up and the house was laddered with ground ladders for access to the roof. Chains, brushes, chimney bombs and torpedoes from all apparatus were used to knock down the fire and clear the chimney. There was no extension into the house and no injuries.

Your MVFC #1 volunteers also responded to an MVA and an ambulance emergency during the storm. Many thanks to the town crews for keeping the roads clear and allowing us to respond safely to these emergencies.

🚨 Call Report 🚨

Last night, on Christmas Day, your MVFC #1 volunteers operated at a structure fire on Maple Ave.

11 total members and 3 total apparatus responded to the incident including M-12, M-13 and M-15.

Our Captain was first on scene and reported active fire, knocking down the bulk of the fire with an extinguisher. M-15, our Ladder, was the first apparatus on scene and stretched a line to the door, providing the primary handline for interior operations. Significant fire was still present and was knocked down with the handline. M-23, Mohegan's engine, was second on scene, laying supply line in from the hydrant and tying into M-15. M-12 then charged the hydrant. Overhaul and ventilation were performed, and one patient was transported by Oakdale's M-400 for smoke inhalation.

Many thanks for our mutual aid partners for their assistance, Mohegan Fire Company, Inc., Oakdale Fire Department, Inc, Chesterfield Fire, and The Mohegan Tribe.
