Terms of Use: the purpose of this site is to keep our school community informed on important happenings across Montrose County Schools with honesty, transparency, and civility. MCSD was initially founded in 1883 and consolidated with other smaller district in 1962 to become what is currently known as MCSD. The purpose of the school district was to provide public education to students at minimum 6-

17 years of age. While some of these initiatives have been mandated by state and/or federal governments all initiatives are put into practice for the betterment of our students and future generations. MCSD currently provide services beyond the scope of just education in the four core areas (Reading, Writing, Math & Science). These additional services include, but are not limited to, behavioral and emotional health, physical health, extra curricular clubs and activities, student safety, and preparing students for post-secondary education or the workforce. MCSD currently serves any student three years of age to adulthood through our continuum of services from early childhood to adult education.

🎉 A new MCSD early childhood facility is one step closer to becoming a reality!

This week, the MCSD Board of Education officially accepted a $6.19 million Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) Grant from the Colorado Department of Education, allowing the district to move forward with plans to renovate the Montrose Field House property into a new early childhood facility.

BEST grants are highly competitive statewide awards that support school construction and facility improvement projects through partnerships between the State of Colorado and local school districts.

MCSD's early childhood facility proposal ranked fifth among the 17 projects selected for funding from 55 applications reviewed statewide! 👏

🌟 What a week for our FFA students!

Members of the Montrose FFA chapter recently attended the Colorado FFA State Convention, where they competed in events, participated in leadership workshops, connected with thousands of fellow FFA members from across the state, and gave back through service as Courtesy Corps volunteers.

We're so proud of the way these students represented their school, community, and the values of FFA!

⚠️ Law Enforcement Training Alert:

On Thursday, June 4, from approximately 1:00 PM until dusk, the Olathe Middle High School campus will be utilized by the Montrose County Sheriff's Office for training exercises.

During this time, you may notice an increased presence of law enforcement vehicles and personnel at the school. This is a planned training event and there is no cause for concern.

The Montrose County School District values its partnership with local law enforcement is pleased to provide a relevant training space that enhances safety and preparedness in our community.

☀️ Summer is here, but the learning is still going strong!

Yesterday, nearly 75 teachers and administrators from across the district kicked off their summer with Mastery Learning Assessment Training.

Our staff spent the morning collaborating and exploring assessment practices that help teachers track student progress and learning throughout the year. 📚

A big thank you to our educators for choosing to spend part of their summer learning together and getting ready for another great year! 💙

School may be out for summer, but we're still smiling about some of the special moments from the final week of the school year! ☀️🎓

Our kindergarten graduates across the district celebrated a big milestone as they wrapped up their first year of elementary school and got ready for the adventure of first grade. From learning new skills to making new friends, they've come a long way this year!

📣 TRAINING ALERT!

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) law enforcement officers will be utilizing Johnson Elementary School for training sessions today and tomorrow, May 26–27.

During this time, you may see law enforcement vehicles parked on campus and groups of officers engaged in training exercises.

MCSD is proud to support our local law enforcement partners by providing space for important training opportunities like this, and we appreciate the strong partnerships that help keep our community safe.

☀️ School’s out for summer! ☀️

Yesterday marked the last day of school, and we want to wish all of our students, families, staff, and community members a happy, safe, and relaxing summer break!

Thank you for an incredible school year filled with learning, growth, achievements, and memories. We are so proud of everything our students accomplished and grateful for the support of our families and staff along the way.

Enjoy time with family and friends, make lasting memories, and take time to rest and recharge. We can’t wait to see everyone back for another great school year!
