1926-2026: Celebrating 100 Years of Sailor Pride!

The HHCEF would like to thank all of the community businesses who so generously sponsored the celebration at Hendrick Hudson High School on May 15 and 16. Community members, including many HHHS alumni, took in a screening of the district's Centennial video in the auditorium, viewed a fascinating Heritage Display in the library showcasing historic artifacts, went on student-led tours of the building, and enjoyed complimentary food and refreshments provided by our generous community business partners.

We are grateful to be a part of such a generous community!

We need your help to tell the story of the last 100 years of Hendrick Hudson High School! The Centennial Committee is seeking alumni memorabilia from across the decades to feature in our Centennial Celebration, taking place Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16.

The celebration will include a Centennial Heritage Display showcasing district artifacts and alumni mementos from throughout the school’s history. We’re looking for items such as clothing, photos, yearbooks, event programs, newspaper articles, and any other treasures from your years at HHHS. All contributions will be cataloged and archived at the high school and returned upon request.

To participate, please contact [email protected] to arrange a donation, or drop items off at the District Office labeled “Centennial,” attention: Beth Gruber or Lauren Scollins. We kindly ask that all items be submitted by May 1.

Thank you for helping make this milestone celebration truly special!

The turnout for Math Night on Monday, Nov. 10 at Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School was outstanding, with 185 students from all three elementary schools joining in the fun! The event showcased that math can be exciting, engaging, and full of discovery.

A special shoutout goes to Mr. Wallace’s fifth grade class, whose students designed and built their own math-themed game boards. The students also helped run that station during the event, proudly sharing their creative games with attendees.

The Hen Hud Elementary PTA added to the excitement by organizing a raffle featuring math-themed prizes, while SEPTA created a calm corner that provided students with a peaceful space to take a break.

The Hendrick Hudson Community Educational Foundation provided a generous grant to support the event and was responsible for ordering supplies for the evening.

“I was so happy to hear that Math Night was returning to Hen Hud, and that HHCEF was able to provide a grant to help make it possible,” said Antoniette Pio, the HHCEF’s president. “I remember going with my older two boys many years ago. It was so much fun seeing all the students and families working together to solve a problem and moving from station to station.”

In addition to our amazing elementary staff, student volunteers from the middle school and high school played a vital role in making the evening a success.

“It was inspiring to see our younger students looking up to the leadership and enthusiasm of their older peers,” said Michelle Karwowski, the district’s Elementary Instructional Math Coach. “Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Math Night such a meaningful and memorable community event!”

HHCEF is a proud supporter of these events. For many years, we have funded programs in all Hen Hud buildings thanks to the generosity of our community. This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help us continue supporting meaningful opportunities like these.
