Horse'n'around Farm

Horse'n'around Farm We have lots to see and do at Horse'n'around Farm. A great place for families or grandparents and grandkids!! All ages love our wagon rides.

Besides our draft horse that fetches a bone & our pony that walks a treadmill, we also have two very unique wagon rides. People with wheelchairs and walkers can get on our wagon, via a ramp. The first is our Redneck Limo. This ride has a lot of fun packed in about 30 minutes. Anything from funny signs with music and sound effects to finding out about a local 1920’s gangster on the top ten list wit

h Bonnie and Clyde. Our second wagon ride is called the Wobble Wagon. And boy, can it wobble. We believe there are less than five of these in the U.S. We can take larger groups, but we specialize in small groups of 8 or less.

If the guest that shipped the lobster over night from Maine is reading this...thank you so much! If you wanted to shock and surprise us, you really did it! We are humbled at your generosity and praying we cook them right. We will follow the directions that came with them and cross our fingers!

Something new last week....we had guests from two new states....in one day! Unfortunately, I didn't get a sign made or a picture taken of the lady from Oregon (she was with her friend from Rushville). Because of a series of events, they (and we) felt it was a "God" thing that got them here and wow! did we have fun.
I did, however, get a picture of these great folks and their awesome kids! And as you can see, they were from Delaware!

Had some awesome guests a week or so ago. They were both born and raised in New York. One was born in Queens and one was born in Mahattan. They met working at a Woolworth store on 34th street (and here comes the miracle). He asked her out. She said no. He asked her again (and said he would take her shopping and buy her a pair of jeans). She said yes. They were both 16. They discovered they were not only born in the same year, but the same month, the same day, the same hour and the same minute. That was 1979 and they have been married since 1981. We took a picture of them because they live in Maryland....and we didn't have that state on our fence. It is state #33!

Elliot wanted to go to "the water" this weekend, so we packed up water and snacks (thanks, Courtney) and headed to the creek. Lots of tadpoles, sand and fun! We laughed so much but I sure took this picture at the wrong time!

Our two year old great granddaughter, Elliot, met our c**t last night and loved him. She asked me what I named him and I told her I would let her know. I called her this morning to let her know his name is Jayjay. Her parents laughed. They had asked her when they got home what she thought we should name him....yip. She said, JJ.
Where did that come from?????

I hoped to sleep in. But I'm up and caught up, so here is the new chapter. Going down to the shop yesterday morning I saw "something" all the way across the pasture. I argued with myself all the way to the shop ("but it has to be a baby deer....but a baby deer wouldn't be nursing on Jill, she has no milk" LOL). But what it looked like ....is exactly what it was. A c**t. Remember Jack? Evidently we did not realize in time that Jack was totally mature....so...Jack and Jill are now parents and Jack is an absente dad. No....we did not notice the pregnancy. She was in the barn laying down with 3 others around 4 the day before and eating grass behind the house before dark. I saw the c**t about 8:30 yesterday morning and he was still a little "sticky" when she brought him up a little bit later. And he was still very unsteady on his feet and falling so had not been on the ground long. I'm still in shock I think, but can't stay away from the barn!

My day was totally awesome and surprising..... I'm still having trouble believing it. I didn't see what happened coming and could not have planned it. We have guests coming and going all weekend and I am too tired to get into it tonight, but if you followed us when we brought the wild donkeys home (yes we still have them) then get eady for an exciting start in the same book, different chapter.

Meet Sparky. As you can see, he walks on the treadmill. He is about 6 or seven years old but a little too skiddish for kids to play with. The second picture is an old treadmill that we overhauled for him to learn to walk on. Boards along the sides and front, sturdy rails along the sides, etc. helped keep in where he belonged and safe. He literally had to power it. Last summer, he got a real treadmill like you or I would use. Everything works on it. We raise it up a little, turn it on and away he goes. The best pace for him seems to be about 1.8 miles per hour. If you know electricity, he makes about 13.1 amps of power consistently. He almost got a new home, even though he could walk on the treadmill. Stay tuned for why he was going to go and why we still have him......

If you have kids who want to get up close and personal with a mini, then meet Radar, one of our mini donkeys. He loves to be brushed and loved-on. Kids can lead him around like our 2 year old great granddaughter does. And, he is such a good boy that we use him to play "pin the tail on the donkey"! He just loves any kind of attention! A picture of him got more than 8000! likes on Facebook once....but more on that and the other animals another day. Stay tuned!

So, to answer some questions, and for those of you who haven't been here and don't know about us. We are a small family owned and operated business. We can host up to around 50 guests at one time (and we do) but mainly we have groups of 2-25. Couples, families, scouts, 4-h, church groups and nursing care facilites. We have two wagon rides....both very different from each other. One wagon takes you around a field, but it is definitely not a hay rack ride. It is fun for adults and kids and is handicap accessible. There are fun signs, music and we will play a game while out riding it. The other is our wobble wagon ride which is not handicap accessible. This ride can rock a baby to sleep (and we have) but for older kids and adults who like a thrill, we can speed it up and you better hang on. One of a kind in this area and only 3-4 that we know of in the U.S. And then comes the animals....more tomorrow.
