Have you been to the Montrose Recreation District? Meet Jeremy Master, Deputy (and Acting) Director.
From nearly pursuing psychology to helping build community through parks and recreation, Jeremy's passion for making Montrose a better place shines in everything he does.
How did you get into this field?
"I was weeks away from pursuing a Doctor of Psychology degree when I decided to seek a more proactive way to help people lead their best lives. I found direction and purpose in public parks and recreation."
Favorite part about working in and around Montrose?
"Every day I get to see the positive impact of MRD on individuals, families, and the community as a whole. From a child learning to swim or climbing the wall for the first time, to a teenager gaining confidence as a referee in the workforce, to a senior finding camaraderie, purpose, and joy after loss by joining activity groups or taking tours with our Active Older Adults program, and families taking an outdoor skills class together—MRD reaches all ages and types. MRD, too, has been beneficial in helping new professionals and families choose Montrose as a place to live, and it serves as an economic driver for the community. I'm proud of the work we do, and proud to help Montrose be such an amazing place for all of us to call home."
What activities do you enjoy when you're not working?
"Traveling, cooking, baseball, hiking, photography, and live music."
