Join us all day September 6th for a community watch party of La Defensa del Pueblo, a summit to end the terror against the people!

On September 6th in Oxnard California La Defensa del Pueblo will convene immigrant rights activists, faith leaders, labor unions, community organizations, civil rights advocates, legal workers, and all people committed to defending democratic rights and civil liberties in a moment of deepening political crisis in our country. 

The entire summit will be live-streamed via BreakThrough News BreakThrough News and watch parties around the country are joining together to learn and strengthen our struggle against ICE and all rightwing attacks on our rights!

$418,852,474. $1,697 per taxpayer.

That’s how much VT taxpayer money is projected to be spent on mass deportations during the second Trump administration — money that could instead fund necessities in our communities, like teachers, firefighters, nurses, veterans’ medical care, Medicaid, Head Start, SNAP, public housing, and paid parental leave.

We’re constantly told by both Democrats and Republicans that there isn’t enough money to meet people’s basic needs. But as we see with the endless bipartisan wars waged at home and abroad, the resources are there. The question is what they’re being used for — and who they serve.

Under capitalism, our collective resources are weaponized in service of the agendas of the wealthy and powerful, rather than being used to meet the needs of working people.

We need a new system where working people have the power to determine how our resources are used and how our future is planned. That system is called socialism.

ICE facilities in Vermont play an important role in Trump’s racist war on immigrant communities. Williston’s two ICE centers gather and send information to ICE agents to help them take our neighbors.

In Minneapolis, we learned that a mass movement has the power to beat back ICE — we must build that movement!

On Sunday, UVM Medical Center Support Staff United marched for a fair contract!

The union is bargaining for safe staffing, protections for immigrants, and dignified healthcare for all, as well as organizing against a wave of layoffs hitting the Medical Center.
