Thank you, Mary Gow and The Times Argus, for creating a wonderful preview of the 2026 Art at the Kent exhibition, THROUGHLINES! The exhibition officially opens on Friday, September 11, 2026, with an Opening Celebration on Saturday, September 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The exhibition runs through October 11, 2026. Art at the Kent is open for viewing throughout the exhibition on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Quiet Mondays, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A friendly reminder that Calais artist Heidi Broner's vibrantly beautiful solo exhibition, Animal, Mineral, is on view at the Vermont Supreme Court Gallery through September 25, 2026. Free and open to the public, the exhibition can be viewed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed during the lunch hour).

The Art at the Kents’ 2026 exhibition, Throughlines, presents WORDS OUT LOUD: Don’t Forget to Write, the beloved Sunday afternoon fall reading series, returning this year to the Old West Church. This season, WORDS OUT LOUD welcomes an outstanding lineup of six Vermont authors. Two authors will appear on each of three Sundays in September: Michael Dumanis (poetry), Vievee Francis (poetry), Sasha Hom (fiction), Ted Levin (nonfiction), Matthew Olzmann (poetry), and Emma Paris (poetry). Mark your calendar! Art at the Kent’s widely anticipated 2026 exhibition, Throughlines, gathers the work of 20 contemporary Vermont artists (listed below), open—from Friday, September 11, through Sunday, October 11, 2026–from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, plus (new this year!) Quiet Mondays. Mark your calendar!

In Throughlines, marks made in one medium evoke rich relationships with those made in another, deepening the viewer’s appreciation for resonance. Throughout the Kent, with its own storied patina tying the present to the past, the connections made between art and building and visitor echo the ties between time and place and community as our audience discovers a unique sense of shared roots and different perspectives. Creative expression becomes a throughline for appreciating life’s odysseys, preserving a sense of possibility, and navigating the way forward.
