Be sure to call in on the admin line and let dispatch know you’ll be conducting a controlled burn prior to lighting!

As always in the event it would get out of control we are always happy to assist.

Planning a controlled burn? Call and let dispatch know!

Why let dispatch know about a controlled burn? Smoke could be visible from the road, and we may receive reports on a fire. If dispatch knows about your controlled burn we can:

✅ Prevent unnecessary emergency response

✅ Reassure concerned callers

✅ Avoid paging fire departments to a fire that is under control

As important as it is to call it in, it is also just as important to call back and let us know your controlled burn is complete.

If we receive smoke reports after the fact and don't know it is done, the responders may still be sent to check it out.

The Montour Fire Department in conjunction with the City of Montour, Montour, Iowa will be accepting sealed bid proposals for the purchase of the following vehicle.

1990 Chevrolet Kodiak

Fuel: Gasoline

18hp Briggs & Stratton pump

1,800 Gallon Water Tank

5 Speed High Low with a 2 Speed Split Rear End

Solid 5 Spoke Rims

Emergency equipment will be removed, unless sold to another agency.

Our local EMS agencies need help, and we’re asking you to consider stepping up. They’re facing a serious shortage of volunteers, especially drivers. The work these volunteers do is so important to keeping our community strong, and we can’t afford to let this gap grow.
