We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the exemplary service of one of our own. Chris Rogers, a part-time firefighter for the Town of Monticello, a police officer for the Town of Prentiss, a lieutenant for Tri-Community volunteer fire department, and a veteran of the United States Army, embodies the principles of selfless service, professionalism, and integrity. Your tireless efforts and dedication to serving others have not gone unnoticed. We extend our sincerest gratitude to you, sir.

β€œI was putting myself into what a father would feel if it was their son, because I have a son close to his age,” he said. β€œIt was very emotional, and even to this day, thinking about it is hard.”

Good morning,

Monticello Fire Department will begin hydrant testing at 0800 hours, Monday, April 20th. During this operation, sediment will be disrupted in our water-mains causing some water discoloration and the potential for low water pressure at times. This is normal during these tests. We ask for your patience during this time as this annual hydrant testing is very important to our ISO rating.

The goal of MFD is to protect lives, property, and provide the most capable, ready, and efficient fire protection possible. Hydrant testing plays an important role in this goal. Thanks for your patience and understanding. For any questions, feel free to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Zac Lewis
Fire Chief, MFD

⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued a Significant fire danger for most of Mississippi on Saturday (3/28/26) from 11 AM to 7 PM. Open burning should not be attempted as fires are more likely to spread in these conditions. Please follow local burn bans, secure tow chains, and dispose of ci******es properly.
