🌳 Looking to grow something meaningful this spring? The University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources invites the community to take part in the statewide “Free Tree Friday” event on Friday, April 3, 11 a.m. to 1p.m.
Individuals may receive up to five free bare-root tree seedlings from the Arkansas Forestry Division and an additional five seedlings from a supply donated to the college by ArborGen. Weather permitting, the giveaway will be held in the parking lot of UAM’s H.H. Chamberlin Forest Resources Complex on Forestry Court in Monticello. In the event of rain, we’ll have the seedlings available inside our forestry building’s A wing, with signs to guide you to the correct room.

Last year the Arkansas Rice Farmers agreed to provide support for a post-harvest residue management (fire/smoke) study.

The lead researcher for the study, Dr. John Nowlin, associate professor of geospatial technologies at Arkansas State University, has created an online survey to gather information about the practices producers perform and the extra time/expense associated with moving to non-burning practices.

Dr. Nowlin needs additional responses to make more statistically relevant claims so if you are a farmer, please complete the survey as soon as possible. It takes about 15 minutes and all information gathered is anonymous.

You can complete the survey at:
