It is with broken hearts that we share that Linda K McDaniel Jones passed away this morning.
She was a integral part of the Winston community, and a very important part of the Winston VFD for many years, working alongside former Chief Jim Jones.
She and Jim were always ready to jump in to assist and support Monticello VFD in any way that we needed. We were a family.
Linda was always a ray of sunshine and one of the sweetest people. She will be greatly missed by so many.
Our condolences to her family.

At around midnight, Monticello VFD was paged out to respond to a possible vehicle fire on the Monticello flats.

Crews arrived to find the vehicle fully involved and worked diligently through the early morning hours to ensure that the fire did not spread.

Thank you to all our members who woke up and rolled out of bed with us!

We welcomed our new Brush Truck 66 from Pete's Equipment this morning.

She is a beautiful beast, and we are so thankful for the State Fire Marshals grant that allowed us the opportunity to even be able to afford this beautiful new truck.

Holiday meals mean more time in the kitchen. 🍳🎄

Always keep a lid nearby when cooking. If a small grease fire starts, slide the lid over the pan and turn off the burner.

Winter months are the most dangerous time of year for home fires. Heating equipment, holiday cooking, and indoor decorations all add extra risk—but a few simple steps can make a big difference.

• Keep space heaters three feet from anything that can burn and turn them off before bed.
• Stay in the kitchen when cooking and keep towels and other flammable items away from the stove.
• Water real Christmas trees daily and keep all decorations away from heat sources.
• Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
• Dispose of fireplace ashes in a metal container stored outside and away from buildings.

Stay warm, stay alert, and keep your home safe this winter.

More reminders of what isn't a good reason to call 9-1-1 this Holiday season folks, though if you see a sleeping person in the middle of nowhere you should still definitely call 9-1-1
