Community and state leaders joined Alabama State Parks staff on Monday to celebrate the grand opening of a new road and accessible playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new road improves access for visitors, while the state-of-the-art playground replaces one of the oldest in the Alabama State Parks System.

We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, our partners with Blount County, and the Alabama State Parks Foundation for helping make these improvements possible.

Free Fishing Day gives everyone the chance to enjoy recreational fishing in public waters across the state. A fishing license will not be required to fish at an Alabama State Park on this day, but regular gate entry, boat, and pier fees will still apply where required.
