This past week, the Montgomery (AL) and Tuskegee (AL) Chapters of The Links, Incorporated joined forces to host “Love, Laughter, and Lipids.” We were honored to receive heart health tips from Dr. Pamela Tuck, who shared practical insights on protecting and prioritizing cardiovascular wellness.

We also enjoyed an engaging overview of our own, Trice McIntyre’s new book, Twice: Wake Me, a new adult romance novel that follows a young collegiate woman who recently lost her mother to lupus.

An engaging, fun time was had by all!

With heavy hearts, the Montgomery (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated announces the passing of our beloved Alumna Sister and former Chapter President, Kathy Dunn Jackson. A proud graduate of Fisk University and a devoted member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Beta Nu Omega Chapter, Kathy was a respected educator, passionate community servant, and lifelong advocate for empowerment and excellence. The daughter of one of our Chapter’s charter members, she carried forward a legacy of service and leadership.

Kathy dedicated 35 years to Alabama State University, where she retired as Chair of the Department of Humanities after a distinguished tenure as Professor of English. Her unwavering commitment to education and civic engagement extended far beyond the classroom, as she faithfully served on numerous boards and committees throughout our community.

Kathy transitioned on May 22, 2025. Her legacy of grace, scholarship, and service will continue to inspire and guide us. We are grateful for her life and lasting contributions to our Chapter, our community, and the countless lives she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Samuel L. Jackson; her loving children, daughter, Erika Gardner (Buckhead Cascade [GA] Chapter), and Brandon Jackson; her Son-in-law, Elijah Gardner; her Daughter-in-law, Felisa Jackson; and, her Grandchildren, Erinn and Elana Gardner, Braden and Brooke Jackson, and Morgan Fowler.

On this Mother’s Day, let us celebrate all women—mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, friends, and mentors—who have touched our lives with their love and guidance, whether they are with us in body or spirit. Let us honor their love and strength as proof of the beauty and power of womanhood. And let us take a moment to embrace our own strength and dignity, and to smile at the future, knowing that we are part of a legacy of love and resilience.
