Pavement improvements on US-82 in Pickens County near the state line kick off this week.

ALDOT plans to begin a pavement improvement project on US-82 in Pickens County near the Mississippi state line on Monday, Sept. 14.

The work will take place from approximately milepost 1.5 to milepost 4 and will include rehabilitating the existing pavement and placing new asphalt.

The project will be completed in phases with all work to be completed by Oct. 2, weather permitting. ALDOT also plans to start a resurfacing project in the area in spring 2027.

Traffic improvements and a smoother ride on the way for the heart of Homewood.

HOMEWOOD ROAD IMPROVEMENTS: Crews are kicking off an access management project to improve traffic flow on US-31 in Homewood.

The work will also include resurfacing 2.5 miles of US-31 between Shades Crest Road and Ventura Avenue.

Widened US-280 from Homewood to I-459 in Jefferson County is now open to traffic.

WIDER 280 NOW OPEN: The new four-laned section of US-280 between Homewood and I-459 opened to traffic overnight.

The overall project should wrap up in the coming weeks, followed by the completion of the new Pump House Road bridge this fall.

I-59 in Trussville is officially widened in both directions between I-459 and Chalkville Mountain Road.

WIDENED I-59 OPEN: The new I-59 three-lane configuration in Trussville is now open in both directions.

Crews have also reopened the US-11 ramp onto I-459 northbound which had been closed since January for construction.

A resurfacing project is kicking off tonight on I-20/59 in Tuscaloosa between Exit 68 and I-359.

ALDOT plans to resurface a portion of I-20/59 from near Exit 68 to the I-359 interchange in Tuscaloosa to improve mobility and safety.

The 2.53-mile nighttime project is expected to begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, and will continue for approximately three months, weather permitting.

Lane closures will not be allowed between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. to reduce the impact on traffic. Additionally, lane closures will not be allowed on Saturdays when the University of Alabama has a home football game.
