On this 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, we remember those we lost on that day at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, especially the first responders who ran into the buildings, and all those we've lost from the lingering effects of being at Ground Zero.

We remember the heroism of those that fought to prevent the further loss of life on United Flight 93, taking back the plane before it crashed in a remote Pennsylvania field.

We remember the thousands of military personnel lost in the War on Terror and an entire generation that now has grown up to know our nation at war.

Most importantly we should remember the days after the attacks, the unity and cooperation within our country. The feeling that despite our differences we came together to mourn, to grieve, to rebuild, as one.

We remember September 11, 2001.

Press Release

Car vs Pedestrian MVA

On September 3, 2026 at approximately 5:30pm, officers from the Village of Montgomery received a call for a child struck by a vehicle on Union Street near Charles Street. When officers responded within seconds of the call, the child was found to be conscious, breathing and alert, and able to speak with officers about what occurred. Initial injuries included abrasions and bruises on the legs and face. Out of an abundance of caution the patient was transported to Orange County Airport to a Medevac for transport to Westchester Medical Center for internal trauma evaluations. As of September 4, 2026 the child is expected to make a full recovery.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the child crossed the roadway when one lane of traffic was stopped and entered into the oncoming traffic lane where a vehicle was approaching. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers’ investigation. The impact was at a low rate of speed and the driver did not show signs of impairment.

We would like to thank Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Town of Montgomery EMS, Town of Montgomery Police, Sheriff’s Office, and State Police for responding and assisting with this incident.

Chief Joseph J Guarneiri Jr.

Happy first day of school Valley Central School District!

Our SROs are excited to be back in school as well, and we are looking forward to another safe and fun year.

Quick reminder that the school zone is 20mph while school is in session. We ask that drivers operate with caution, especially during drop off and dismissal times as students will be crossing Union Street. Officers will be there to assist with crossing and traffic. Please be patient as these times can be heavily congested and traffic can get backed up.
