On August 28, 2026, deputies responded to Interstate 70, near the 177-mile marker, after a pickup truck was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer. Witnesses further advised female driver, from the pickup truck, fled the scene on foot. Deputies learned the pickup had been reported stolen from the Troy area and that the driver may be armed. With assistance from a nearby citizen, using a side-by-side, deputies tracked the female through a field and located her approximately 300 yards away walking along the railroad tracks. After a brief foot pursuit and repeated commands to stop, the female surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, deputies located a loaded .45-caliber handgun and a loaded .22-caliber r***e inside the stolen vehicle. The Missouri State Highway Patrol assumed the crash and DWI investigation. The female refused a chemical test, and a search warrant was subsequently obtained for a blood draw, which was conducted at the MC Jail by our Sheriff's Office Deputy Phlebotomist . The fi****ms were turned over to the investigating trooper, and the stolen vehicle was recovered. The Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office would like to thank the citizen who assisted deputies by providing the use of a side-by-side. The citizenโ€™s assistance helped deputies safely and quickly apprehend the suspect.

On August 28, 2026, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 19 near Highway K for a vehicle displaying an expired registration. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies discovered the driverโ€™s driving privileges were suspended. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Suspended.

On August 29, 2026, deputies responded to a residence in Jonesburg for a reported assault. Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned that several juveniles had gone to another juvenileโ€™s residence and assaulted him. During the assault, three of the juveniles attacked the victim at the same time. Deputies were able to locate all of the juveniles involved, as well as one adult involved in the incident. The juveniles and adult were interviewed, and charges for assault are being forwarded to the Juvenile Office for review.

On ๐€u๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to ๐–๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Œ๐ข๐ฅ๐ญ๐จ๐ง ๐’๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ž๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ž๐ฐ ๐…๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž after receiving a report of an individual actively firing a handgun at another person following a confrontation. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, ๐š ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ“-๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ-๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐ž๐ง๐ง๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž, ๐’๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐š, who acknowledged retrieving a handgun and firing multiple rounds. The suspect stated that the rounds were fired into the ground in an attempt to deter the other individual. However, witnesses reported that the suspect entered his residence during the confrontation, retrieved the handgun, and then fired approximately four to five rounds in the direction of the other individual. During their initial contact, deputies observed the suspect consuming an alcoholic beverage and noted indicators of possible intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes and a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage. The suspect refused to submit to a preliminary breath test. The suspect was taken into custody, and the residence was secured while deputies obtained a search warrant. During ex*****on of the search warrant, deputies seized 11 fi****ms, including multiple handguns and r***es, am******on, fi***rm accessories, and other items of evidentiary value. Deputies also located a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for the presence of ๐จ๐ฉ๐ข๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ/๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ฒ๐ฅ. A spent 5.7mm shell casing was recovered outside the residence near the location where the shooting was reported to have occurred.

On September 2, 2026, deputies were investigating a theft and responded to a residence in Jonesburg to speak with a subject. Upon arrival, deputies observed a female sitting in the garage who began acting suspiciously after noticing law enforcement and attempted to conceal an item in her purse. When confronted, the female admitted she had a methamphetamine pipe in her possession. Deputies searched the purse and located a glass pipe containing methamphetamine. The female was arrested and transported to the MC Jail pending formal charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office is asking for the publicโ€™s assistance in locating ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐จ๐ซ, ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ“, who left the Wellsville Healthcare Center earlier today and has not yet been located.

Pryor was last known to be at the facility at approximately 10:55 a.m.
He is described as:โ€ข 6โ€™1โ€ tallโ€ข Approximately 225 poundsโ€ข Longer brown hair

Deputies are currently working to locate Pryor. We are asking residents in and around the Wellsville area to simply be aware and report any possible sightings.

If you see Pryor, please do not approach or attempt to detain him. Contact 911 or the Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office and provide his location and direction of travel, if known.

Throughout Firefighter Appreciation Month, the Montgomery County Sheriffโ€™s Office would like to recognize and thank the dedicated Volunteer Firefighters who serve communities throughout Montgomery County.

Our firefighters give their time freely, leaving their families, jobs, and personal responsibilities behind whenever the call comes. Whether responding to structure fires, vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, severe weather, hazardous conditions, or assisting other public safety agencies, they provide an invaluable service to the citizens of our county.

The Sheriffโ€™s Office is fortunate to work alongside these men and women on a regular basis, and we see firsthand the commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice it takes to serve as a volunteer firefighter.

Earlier this week, The Synapsory donated sensory calming kits to each of our deputies. These are often used when interacting with children or people who are overwhelmed, frightened, autistic or sensitive to stressful situations.

Some of the items in the bag include different types of fidgets, a color changing dog squishy, book and animal cards. We are grateful for such a wonderful donation to our agency as a helpful tool for the deputies.
