𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐅’𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝟎𝟔/𝟎𝟓/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝟎𝟔/𝟏𝟏/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at approximately 8:36 p.m., a Montgomery County Sheriff's deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation on Highway 94 in the Rhineland area. The driver failed to yield and fled from law enforcement, reaching speeds in excess of 80 mph on Highway 94 and Highway EE before turning onto a county gravel road, where deputies eventually lost sight of the vehicle. During the pursuit, the driver traveled into oncoming traffic lanes on blind curves and continued driving recklessly on gravel roads. Witnesses later reported that a family traveling on a side-by-side vehicle, including young children, narrowly avoided being struck by the fleeing vehicle.

Deputies conducted a follow-up investigation the following day and identified the driver as a 𝟑𝟏-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢. Deputies located the suspect vehicle concealed near a residence and gathered evidence linking the suspect to the pursuit. During the investigation, deputies also located a loaded 12-gauge shotgun inside the residence. The suspect, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing fi****ms. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is currently being held on a no-bond warrant for 𝐀𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐛𝐲 𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧/𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop in Rhineland after observing a vehicle traveling 63 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. During the stop, deputies detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and observed signs of possible impairment from the driver, including bloodshot and watery eyes. The driver admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages approximately 45 minutes to one hour prior to the stop. After conducting a standardized field sobriety test, the driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to the New Florence area to check on the welfare of two individuals following reports of a disturbance. Deputies located the two individuals driving north on Highway 19 and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle, and located a glass smoking device containing a crystalline substance. The substance field tested positive for Methamphetamine. One individual received medical attention for an unrelated medical issue, while the driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop in New Florence after observing a vehicle fail to signal while exiting the north roundabout on Highway 19. During the stop, the driver advised deputies that he did not possess a valid driver's license. A records check confirmed the driver did not hold a valid operating status. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Revoked/Suspended – 1st Offense.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to the New Florence area after receiving a report of a careless and imprudent driver who was observed crossing the center line while traveling on Highway 19. According to reports, deputies located the vehicle at a local business and contacted the driver, who admitted to being distracted by her cellular phone while attempting to make a call. A records check revealed the driver’s Missouri driving privileges had been revoked and were not eligible for reinstatement until October 2026. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Revoked/Suspended – 1st Offense.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to Jonesburg for a reported domestic assault involving a female victim and her boyfriend. According to reports, the victim stated the suspect became verbally aggressive after the two had been drinking and later chased her through the Jonesburg commuter lot, tackled her to the ground, dragged her back toward her vehicle, and forced her inside against her will. The victim was eventually able to escape and seek help from nearby citizens. Deputies observed injuries and physical evidence consistent with the victim’s account. The suspect then allegedly fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle without permission while intoxicated and with a revoked driver's license. Deputies later located the vehicle at the victim's residence and took the suspect into custody. During the arrest, deputies observed signs of intoxication and located an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. The suspect was transported to the MC Jail and is being held pending warrants for Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, Domestic Assault 3rd Degree, Driving While Intoxicated – Persistent Offender, and Driving While Revoked/Suspended – Felony.

On Friday, SRO Deputy Chase along with Montgomery Fire Protection District, got to enjoy the day at Montgomery City Elementary spraying the students with water. The students, along with staff got to beat the heat with a nice cool soak of the hose.

Today we celebrate Flag Day and recognize the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777. This year marks the 𝟐𝟒𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐠.

Every morning when I arrive at the courthouse, one of the first things I notice is the American flag flying overhead. It serves as a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy and the sacrifices made to protect them.
Take a moment today to look up when you pass a flag and remember what it stands for.

Earlier this year, 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐲 was assigned to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division as the agency's 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫.

A lifelong Montgomery County resident and graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 School, Cpl. B. Maskey began his law enforcement career in 2005 and has served with the Vandalia Police Department, Fulton Police Department, Montgomery City Police Department, Wellsville Police Department, and Martinsburg Police Department. Since joining the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in 2020, he has established himself as a dedicated and highly skilled law enforcement officer, earning his promotion to Corporal with the Patrol Division in 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐.

Cpl. B. Maskey is a member of the 𝐌𝐢𝐝-𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝 and serves as the Sheriff's Office 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭. Throughout his career, he has investigated a wide variety of criminal offenses, including fraud, embezzlement, property crimes, drug offenses, and complex criminal offenses. In recent years, he has recovered 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 $𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 and has successfully brought numerous investigations to resolution.

The Criminal Investigations Division has long been an important part of the Sheriff's Office; however, the investigator position had remained vacant for approximately 𝐬𝐢𝐱 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬. During that time, patrol deputies handled most follow-up investigations in addition to their regular patrol duties.

By assigning a dedicated investigator, patrol deputies can spend more time proactively serving the public while ensuring major investigations receive the attention they deserve. The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating serious and complex criminal offenses, gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and working closely with the Prosecutor's Office to build strong cases and bring offenders to justice.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce the promotion of 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 to the rank of 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Corporal Sheets began his career with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in the jail division, where he spent two years gaining valuable experience in corrections and inmate supervision. After graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI) in 2021, he transitioned to the patrol division, where he has served the citizens of Montgomery County for the past five years.

Throughout his career, Corporal Sheets has demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to public service. He has gained experience in criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, emergency response, and community policing while helping citizens during some of their most difficult times.

As a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, Corporal Sheets takes great pride in serving the community he calls home. His passion for helping others, building trust with the public, and making a positive difference each day has earned him the respect of both his fellow deputies and the citizens he serves.

While speaking with Corporal Sheets about his promotion, he was quick to credit his family for their support throughout his career. Corporal Sheets stated that none of his success would have been possible without the unwavering support of his family, who have stood behind him every step of the way.

𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐅’𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝟎𝟓/𝟐𝟗/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝟎𝟔/𝟎𝟒/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies located a subject in New Florence who was known to have multiple active arrest warrants. According to reports, deputies observed the subject operating a vehicle and followed him to a local business parking lot. Upon making contact, the subject acknowledged being aware of the warrants but believed he was outside the extradition range. Deputies confirmed the warrants were valid and extraditable through the City of St. Charles. The subject was taken into custody without incident and transported to the MC Jail, where he was booked on 18 outstanding warrants.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop near Montgomery City after observing a vehicle displaying expired registration and failing to display a front license plate. According to reports, the driver admitted he did not possess a valid driver's license, and a records check confirmed his driving privileges had expired. During the investigation, the driver consented to a search of the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a loaded 9mm handgun concealed under the center console. The driver advised the firearm belonged to him and admitted he had failed to disclose its presence. A criminal history check revealed no felony convictions prohibiting possession of the firearm. The driver was transported to the MC Jail and cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License and Failure to Properly Display a Front License Plate.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop near New Florence after observing multiple traffic violations, including improper lane changes and failure to signal. According to reports, the driver displayed extreme nervousness and admitted she did not possess a valid driver’s license. During the investigation, deputies detected the odor of ma*****na coming from the vehicle and obtained consent to conduct a search. The search resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale with residue, multiple items containing suspected co***ne residue, and a controlled substance believed to be Adderall without a valid prescription. Prior to transport, the driver surrendered additional drug paraphernalia and a bag containing suspected co***ne that had been concealed on her person. Field testing later confirmed the presence of co***ne. The driver was transported to the MC Jail and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Driver’s License, and Failure to Signal.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies received information regarding the whereabouts of a wanted subject who had an outstanding warrants out of Montgomery County Failure to Appear on 8 Counts of Harassment charges and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. According to reports, deputies coordinated with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who made contact with the subject, via telephone, and advised him of the outstanding warrant. Later that evening, the subject voluntarily arrived at the Montgomery County Jail and turned himself in. The subject was taken into custody without incident and booked on the outstanding warrant.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 70 near New Florence after observing a vehicle displaying expired registration. According to reports, the driver admitted to having recently consumed ma*****na and was found to possess only a Missouri identification card rather than a valid driver’s license. During the investigation, deputies observed signs of impairment and obtained consent to search the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of multiple cannabis products, THC v**e cartridges, cannabis concentrates, and drug paraphernalia. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluation concluded the driver was impaired by cannabis, and a consensual blood sample was obtained for laboratory testing. The driver was transported to the MC Jail and cited for DWI (Prior Offender), Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License, Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle, and No Insurance.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies assisted the Montgomery City Police Department with a domestic disturbance investigation involving threats of violence and a firearm. According to reports, a female subject admitted she became upset during an ongoing relationship dispute and armed herself with a handgun while intending to confront another individual. Witnesses reported the subject made multiple statements indicating she intended to shoot the individual before ultimately deciding against it and returning home. The subject later admitted she had retrieved the firearm and initially intended to carry out the threat but changed her mind before leaving the neighborhood. A 9mm handgun was recovered and secured as evidence. Following the investigation, the subject was arrested by the Montgomery City Police Department on charges related to the incident. No injuries were reported.
