The men and women of the Montezuma/Oglethorpe Police Departments are currently mentoring several Macon County High School SENIORS as they prepare for their Capstone for GRADUATION.

The seniors are getting first hand experience on Patrol Operations, Investigations, Courtroom Procedures, and Forensic Science.

The seniors are seeking to attend college and enroll in Criminal Justice upon graduation.

Rick Weaver was captured this evening at the 8 Inn Hotel in Americus, Georgia by members of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department, Montezuma/Oglethorpe Police Departments and the GBI Drug Task Force.

Weaver was transported to the Sumter County Jail.

Please join us and congratulate Officer David Jennings for being selected Officer of the Year for 2023. Officer Jennings was awarded Resolution # 728 by Montezuma Mayor Nealie Johnson and City Council at their regular council meeting which was held on Tuesday December 13, 2024.

Police Chairman, Councilman Howard Brown also presented the award along with Chief Eric Finch and Captain Christopher Hill.
