City of Montezuma Town Hall Meeting
Date: June 1st, 2026

Meeting Place: Montezuma Memorial Hall @ 205 E Main St.

Topic- Bit Coin Mining Proposal
This is a meeting for comments from the public on the topic of the GridZero Bit Coin Mining proposed operation.

Note: Please understand that the Council will not take any action on comments at this meeting due to requirements of the Open Meetings Law, but they may be considered at a future meeting.
Guidelines in order to speak at the town hall meeting are as follows:
• If you wish to speak, you must be signed-up at the enterance by 6:00 p.m., & provide the following information:
Name, Address & Question/Comment Topic
Optional: Phone Number & Email Address
• All speakers must be live within the corporate city limits of Montezuma
• All speakers will be limited to a 3-minute time limit.
• Comments must address the agenda topic: Bit Coin Mining Proposal
• Comments must be respectful, concise, & focused on the agenda item.
• If a speaker has a comment or a question that requires more time being allowed, their information will be gathered, a response will be provided in a timely manner.

The Montezuma Water Department will be flushing mains this week as we have received information that residents may or may not have some discolored water.
Hydrant flushing is performed in an effort to clear stagnant water from hydrant leads and dead ends. Flushing also exercises fire hydrants and can help identify and necessary maintenance on the hydrants. Generally, flushing clears small particles of iron or calcium buildup in the main water. The dislodging of these minerals can cause discolored orange or red water to appear in your home. This water poses no health threats. Running your faucets on cold for several minutes in the lowest level of your home will usually clear your household system. Occasionally, faucet aerators (screens) will have to be removed and cleaned to remove debris.
After all flushing is done and you do continue to have discolored water after running water for several minutes, please contact the city office 623-5617 or the water office 623-5675 to report.

Attention Montezuma Residents....
There is a company going door to door, without a peddlers permit, asking about finishing driveways. If a red Ford, a white heavy duty pickup with black & gold plates, or a dump truck stop at your address, ask for their permit, then call the sheriff's office (623-5679) or Montezuma City office to report them (623-5617).

POWESHIEK COUNTY RESIDENTS!!
On May 10th, 2026, the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office posted a press release after a brief standoff and foot chase with Michael Zurek. As of this morning, Zurek remains at large and is to be considered armed and dangerous. If you see Zurek,do not approach him. Call 911 immediately!
