If you've heard of the Bonus Army, you know it was a dark time for our nation's Veterans. Here's a brief history of it from VA.

After World War I, Americans discharged from military service faced a difficult homecoming. Many struggled to find work in the tight labor market created by a post-war recession. After a deferred payout, the Bonus Act, was passed, many Veterans marched on the capital to voice displeasure. The Bonus....

You've heard the news that we've lost Dolly Parton. Lower your flags if you haven't yet. Dolly steered clear of politics and became the person we needed instead. She helped those in need, often in secret. In a world of political sparing and name calling, be like Dolly.

Dolly Parton always held Veterans close to her heart.

Her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, served in the U.S. Army- making her connection to our military community deeply personal.

From supporting our troops and military families to a lifetime of extraordinary philanthropy, Dolly never stopped giving back.

Rest in Peace, Dolly. 🤍

Before he was the Man in Black, he wore dress blues.

Did you know before he became the Man in Black, Johnny Cash wore the uniform? He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950, served in West Germany intercepting Soviet communications, and left the service as a staff sergeant.

Today, VA is proud to serve Veterans like him who answered the call.

We have several Vets in our community who have been awarded the medal no one wishes they had.

We have several Vets in our community who have been awarded the medal no one wishes they had.

This Friday, we recognize Purple Heart Day and honor the extraordinary sacrifices of every Purple Heart recipient past, present, and future.

For Governmental Veteran Service Officers, a Purple Heart represents a major indicator during claim development. When service treatment records are incomplete, a veteran's award history can help establish how, when, and under what circumstances an injury may have occurred. In the case of the Purple Heart, the award confirms that the veteran was wounded or killed by enemy action, making it an invaluable piece of evidence when connecting veterans and their families to earned benefits.

This is another way experienced GVSOs look beyond medical records alone. By piecing together the full story, we can ensure veterans receive the recognition and benefits that their service deserves.

Today, we pause to remember those whose sacrifice is forever reflected by the Purple Heart. Thank you for your courage in defense of our nation.
