🌲🦅 Back to the Wild! 🐿️🐇

Intake is only the beginning of their story. Release is what we work toward every single day. 💚

These photos show just a few of the animals that Twin Harbors Wildlife Center has had the privilege of caring for and releasing Back to the Wild this season!

Some came to us orphaned and needing to be raised until they were old enough to survive on their own. Others arrived sick or injured and needed time, treatment, and rehabilitation before they were ready to return home.

Every release represents hours—sometimes weeks or months—of feeding, cleaning, medications, veterinary care, enclosure maintenance, and rehabilitation. But when that carrier door opens and an animal takes that first step, hop, run, or flight back into the wild, every bit of that work is worth it. ❤️

As an all-volunteer nonprofit, these success stories wouldn't be possible without our volunteers, donors, supporters, veterinary partners, and the members of our community who take the time to help wildlife in need.

Thank you for being part of their journey.

They may only be with us for a short chapter of their lives, but our goal is always the same: give them the chance to write the rest of their story in the wild. 🌲💚

🦉🦅🐿️ A few of the wild faces currently in our care! 🐇🦔

Every animal that comes through our doors has a different story. Some arrive injured or ill, others are orphaned or displaced, but they all come to us with the same goal: rehabilitation and a second chance at life back in the wild. 💚

These are just a few of the patients currently calling Twin Harbors Wildlife Center their temporary home. Behind every photo are countless hours of feeding, cleaning, medications, enclosure care, veterinary care, and lots of dedicated work from our volunteers.

As an all-volunteer nonprofit, we couldn't do what we do without the support of our community. Every donation, supply item, shared post, and kind word helps us continue caring for wildlife in need.

We hope you enjoy seeing a few of our current patients! ❤️

Our favorite goodbye will always be watching them return Back to the Wild. 🌲🦅

Please remember that wildlife in rehabilitation needs to remain wild. Our patients are given only the human interaction necessary for their care and rehabilitation.

Friendly Reminder from Twin Harbors Wildlife Center

Over the last week, we have seen an increase in people taking wildlife to the veterinary clinic next door. We want to remind everyone that Twin Harbors Wildlife Center (THWC) and Grays Harbor Veterinary Services (GHVS) are two separate businesses.

Although we are located on the same property, we have separate buildings, staff, and operations. THWC is unable to provide care for domestic animals, and GHVS is unable to accept or intake wildlife. All wildlife intakes must be arranged directly through Twin Harbors Wildlife Center.

If you call THWC and we are unable to answer, please leave a message. We are still in baby season, and our volunteers are constantly busy feeding and caring for the babies and other wildlife currently in our care. Because of this, we may not always be able to get to the phone right away, but we will return your call as soon as we are able.

While you are waiting for a callback, you are welcome to contact one of the other wildlife rehabilitation centers listed in the attached information. Please do not take wildlife to Grays Harbor Veterinary Services or call the veterinary clinic while waiting for THWC to return your call, as they are unable to assist with wildlife cases.

🐾 Please Read Before Calling 🐾

We continue to receive wildlife-related calls at Grays Harbor Veterinary Services, so we'd like to clarify:

Twin Harbors Wildlife Center and Grays Harbor Veterinary Services are two completely separate, independent businesses, even though we are located on the same property and share the same veterinarian.

All wildlife calls, questions, admissions, and updates must go directly to Twin Harbors Wildlife Center.

If you have already left a voicemail with the Wildlife Center, please do not call the veterinary clinic while waiting for a callback. The veterinary clinic does not have access to wildlife records, cannot schedule wildlife admissions, cannot provide updates on wildlife patients, and is unable to answer wildlife-related questions. Calling the clinic will only result in being referred back to the Wildlife Center or asked to wait for a return call.

Our Wildlife Center staff and volunteers return calls as soon as they are able, often while actively intaking, transporting, treating, or caring for wildlife. We appreciate your patience while you wait for a response.

By calling the correct number, you help ensure wildlife receives the fastest assistance possible while allowing the veterinary clinic to remain available for its scheduled appointments and medical emergencies.

Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for helping us provide the best possible care to both wildlife and veterinary patients.

Wildlife Intake Update 07/20/2026

As of this evening, we are currently at maximum capacity, with only a couple of openings available for raptor patients.

If you have wildlife in need of assistance, please contact one of the phone numbers listed below. Our phone line will remain open to answer questions and help connect you with the nearest licensed wildlife rehabilitation center that is able to accept the animal in your care.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to provide the best possible care for the wildlife currently in our rehabilitation center. Thank you for your continued support.

🎆 As the 4th of July draws near and it becomes legal to set off fireworks, please remember the impact they can have on wildlife—not only during the celebration, but long after the last spark has faded.

After the festivities, firework debris left on the ground can also pose serious risks. Animals may ingest litter, become entangled in discarded materials, or suffer from exposure to harmful chemicals released by fireworks.

If you choose to celebrate with fireworks, please do so responsibly. Clean up all debris, be mindful of nearby wildlife habitats, and remember that a few moments of entertainment can have lasting effects on the animals that share our community.
