Let’s Get Messy!! For ages 18 months- 3 years old. Ready to get some creative juices flowing with your little one? Come get messy using finger paint, play dough, slime and other art materials in this “hands on” art class. This class is a parent participation class. An adult or guardian needs to be present during the entire class. Children should wear clothes that can get dirty! Wednesdays,10:00 - 10:45 am at Hilltop Park Center. Theater for Kids begins Friday at Hilltop Park Center! Each week students will explore a different theatre concept through imaginative play using improvisational theatre games, movement with music, pantomime, and emotions. There are no scripts or memorization required. Focus is on fun! Classes also help students in their development of socialization skills/life skills such as empathy, teamwork, self-esteem, and communication.

New Free Little LibraryInstalled at Hilltop Park!

We’re excited to share a new community resource at Hilltop Park! Through a partnership between The City’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Monterey Public Library, a new Free Little Library was installed this week by Parks staff at Hilltop Park, giving children, families and neighbors an easy way to discover, enjoy, and share books!

This Little Library was made possible through a grant that Library Manager Kim Smith received from Scholastic Books in partnership with Dav Pilkey, author of the Captain Underpants and Dog Man series. This Little Library even has Dog Man painted on the side! An initial supply of Dav Pilkey books was received for the site and future inventory will be supplemented through community donations coordinated by the Monterey Public Library Friends & Foundation.

Thank you to the Parks team that installed this new Little Library and to the Library team for helping bring this idea to Hilltop Park! We look forward to the community connecting through a shared love of reading.
