Introducing From the Archives! Video segments discussing exciting items from our museums and library collections.

For our first video, Kathy and Brian discuss one of the interesting pieces of history in our collection - the Colonel Roger Fitch calvary saber. June 3rd 1770 is Monterey’s birthday, and each year it is celebrated at La Merienda by the Monterey History & Art Association. The saber is displayed at the Presidio of Monterey Museum, but brought down annually to cut the traditional cake at La Merienda. Watch and learn more about how this local tradition began!

For more information on La Merienda, make sure to visit the website. Tickets are on sale for June 6th!
