Project Helping Hand, Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club

Project Helping Hand, Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club Project Helping Hand is an initiative to provide micro-grants for Monterey school teachers in need of help.

Project Helping Hand provides grants of as much as $500 per classroom to teachers with a specific need for a specific project. Monterey public school teachers, grades K through 12, are encouraged to submit a request to meet a need not included in their school budgets. For example, a teacher may request $350 to pay for a trip to the San Jose Children’s Discovery Museum. The Project Helping Hand Committee will review all submitted applications and approve which projects to fund.

This year the Project Helping Hand program received 52 requests totaling $27,245.78 from the 6 schools our little program happily serves. 🤗 Due to the ongoing efforts of the Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club, and the overwhelming generosity of our community sponsors; this year PHH has $18,489.09 to distribute.

After careful review & deliberation, the PHH committee recently approved 47 micro grants totaling $18,481.46. Once these funds have been distributed, the Grand Total of the 202 grants distributed since the program’s 2008 inception will be $100,266.81❗️

The PHH program has No Operating Costs & mandates a Zero Waste Policy. To this end, we account for every penny distributed, and require the return of any unused potions of the awarded funds.

Thank you to all our wonderful supporters! 🙏 Together we’re helping our teachers make a world of difference in lives of countless children🚸☺️👋
