Measure AAA 2026 Ballot Measure
In the upcoming November 2026 General Election, Monterey Park voters will decide on a ballot measure to amend the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) from 13% to 14% for standard TOT and from 13% to 16% for Short Term Rentals (STRs). The total estimated additional annual revenue is $600,000. The measure would increase City revenues and provide a more predictable funding source for municipal services and priorities.

HOM Housing Overlay 2026 Ballot Measure
In the upcoming November 2026 General Election, Monterey Park voters will decide on a ballot measure to amend the City’s Land Use and Urban Design Element. Proposed in response to community feedback calling for more housing, economic revitalization, and blight reduction, the measure would allow the city to establish flexible "housing overlays" for residential and mixed-use development on vacant or underutilized commercial and industrial properties. To protect the character of existing communities, the proposal explicitly excludes all residential zones and upholds Monterey Park's citywide prohibition on data centers.

Great turnout at the opening ceremony of the “Cantonese Pioneers: Building North America” exhibition at the Bruggemeyer Monterey Park Library!

A special thank you to the Greater San Gabriel Valley Lodge Chinese American Citizens Alliance and the Cantonese Society of Southern California for collaborating with the Bruggemeyer Monterey Park Library to share the rich history and contributions of Cantonese Chinese Americans in North America.

And a big shoutout to Councilmember Vinh Ngo for doing a fantastic job emceeing the program!

It was wonderful to celebrate our history, honor the pioneers who came before us, and share their stories with the next generation.
