Update Regarding Boyle Heights Warehouse Fire and Air Quality Concerns
The City of Monterey Park continues to monitor the ongoing warehouse fire in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles and is coordinating with emergency management agencies to stay informed of any impacts to Monterey Park residents.
The fire, which began on June 17 at a large cold-storage warehouse facility in Boyle Heights, has generated significant smoke and air quality concerns throughout portions of Los Angeles County. State and local emergency declarations have been issued to support response and recovery efforts.
While Monterey Park is not within the immediate incident area, smoky conditions continue to affect air quality throughout the region. The City encourages residents to remain aware of local air quality conditions and take appropriate precautions.
*Masks Available
Residents with health sensitivities may pick up N-95 masks at any MPK Fire Station. Please bring proof of residency. Limit 2 masks per household. Supplies are limited and available only until 8:00 p.m. tonight, June 22.
*Relief Sites
Additionally, the Langley Center is open until 9:00 p.m. and the Bruggemeyer Library is open until 8:00 p.m. today, June 22 as temporary relief sites for Monterey Park residents.
*Outdoor Programs Cancelled
All outdoor Recreation programs have been cancelled through Sunday, June 28 due to air quality concerns. This includes the City’s “Let’s Kick it” Watch Party and Farmers’ Market scheduled for Thursday, June 25, and the Independence Day event scheduled for Saturday, June 27.
*Sign Up for Emergency Alerts
Residents, businesses and community members are encouraged to immediately enroll via the Everbridge website or mobile app to receive alerts from the City of Monterey Park. Everbridge is free to use by the public.

Residents can access resources at both shelters without checking in, including food, water and protective masks. A mobile health clinic is also on site at the County’s City Terrace shelter.

Residents are encouraged to:
• Monitor local air quality conditions by visiting the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) at https://www.aqmd.gov/.
• Limit outdoor activities and try to stay indoors.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• Seek medical attention if experiencing respiratory distress or other health concerns.
